TerraMusica is a radio programme unrestricted in musical style and genre, produced by Messechina Music and broadcast on the RFI Bulgaria radio frequency.
This is a programme where different cultures meet: from post-modern to classical Indian and Tibetan music for instance. This brings in a wide range of themes and music and in this way targets a broad musical audience.
As well as so-called “world” and “crossover” music, with a pop sound, but following local and regional traditions, this programme broadcasts music which has come into existence as a result of the meeting of different cultures. This allows the inclusion of a huge range of musical works and styles without the programme losing its originality. On the programme you can hear up-to-date information on forthcoming concerts, reviews and comments of past events, interviews with stars from the world of music and, last but not least, information on new albums, films and books on world music. The programme also focuses on Bulgarian music, its roots and its global dimensions.
TerraMusica is a natural follow-up to the traditions of RFI in presenting the music of the world in all its moods and spirits and to the Tropicalissimo (with show hosts Victor and Ivo) and programme which started in autumn 1999 on the RFI Sofia radio frequency.
TerraMusica is a unique broadcast in Bulgaria, with its characteristic and easily recognized style. Selected music from this programme is presented in RFI’s overall programming as well.
TerraMusica gives listeners an idea of the development of popular music in a world without frontiers and open to cultural cooperation.
The most recent participation of TerraMusica at the international forums was one at WOMEX 2008 in Seville.
