Terraplane Sun is an energetic bluesy rock group, a more dynamic Cage the Elephant that will leave you tapping your foot with the beat or singing along with lead singer Ben Rothbard when you think your roommate isn't home. The outstanding musical quality of Terraplane Sun's first album makes them a standard to which I hold other music that is sent to KSDT Radio. I rarely like all songs on a CD, but this is an exception.

Terraplane Sun are heavier and darker, with an accomplished bluesy overtone. Hailing from Venice Beach they seem to have a hard-living vibe, but they uplift at the same time and make you want to see them live because you know it will be a good night.

"TERRAPLANE SUN" IS MEANT TO PORTRAY MAN AS IT COLLIDES WITH A FORCE MUCH GREATER THAN OURSELVES. IN THIS CASE, THE WORD TERRAPLANE, WHICH WAS THE NAME OF AN AMERICAN CAR IN THE 1930'S, SYMBOLIZES THE SPEED AND AGGRESSION IN WHICH MAN TRAVELS THROUGH LIFE. NOT ALWAYS SMOOTHLY, NEVER QUIETLY AND ALWAYS LEAVING BEHIND IT'S TRACKS. THE SUN REPRESENTS A FORCE THAT CONTROLS MAN WITH EASE AND DICTATES OUR ENTIRE EXISTENCE. IT IS THE COLLISION OF THESE TWO THAT "TERRAPLANE SUN" EMBODIES. AN ENERGY THAT IS GREATER THAN THE SUM OF IT'S PARTS. "TERRAPLANE SUN" IS SOMETHING OF A SECRET GEM. THEY HAVE A UNIQUE ABILITY TO MAGICALLY TOUCH THOSE WHO ARE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SEE THEM LIVE OR COME ACROSS THEIR RECORDINGS. MORE OF A FAMILY THAN A BAND, THE T.S. PROJECT HAS STARTED TO CREATE A BUZZ PRIMARILY BASED ON WORD OF MOUTH. HOWEVER, THEY DID JUST RECENTLY ATTAIN NATIONAL EXPOSURE WITH THE USE OF THEIR SONG "IS THERE A WAY" ON THE SHOWTIME SERIES "NURSE JACKIE." IN ADDITION, THEY HAVE HONED THEIR STAGE CRAFT INTO SOMETHING OF A WELL OILED MACHINE AND GARNERED QUITE A FOLLOWING AROUND THE LA BASIN. BASED OUT OF VENICE BEACH, CA, THEIR SOUND ENCOMPASSES EXACTLY THAT, WHEN THE CITY MEETS THE SEA. IT IS TRULY A UNIQUE BLEND OF BALLS AND BEAUTY. A DARK, YET UPLIFTING FOLKY/BLUES SOUND THAT IS AS INFECTIOUS AS THE PLAGUE ITSELF. AND JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU MAY OF FIGURED THEM OUT, I PROMISE YOU THEY WILL SHOCK YOU.
