Through TERRA VOCE, flutist Elizabeth Brightbill and cellist Andrew Gabbert seek to explore their interest in musical expression from many different places and times, from early to new music and Celtic to tango, combining their voices to create their own distinct sound.
Since their first collaboration as a duo in 2000, Elizabeth and Andrew have performed numerous concerts across the country, and their 2007-2008 season has included performances at the Kennedy Center, Emory & Henry College, Mary Baldwin College, Marshall University, and on the Christ Chapel Chamber Series at New York City's Riverside church. Recently named finalists in the National Flute Association Chamber Music Competition, they will be performing at the NFA convention in Kansas City this summer. Together with the Exorior Duo, Terra Voce has begun a commissioning circle devoted to supporting the creation of new works for flute and cello. The Virginia Commision for the Arts has recently added Terra Voce to its Residency Program Roster.
Elizabeth held the position of Principal Flute with the Tulsa Philharmonic and Opera orchestras for ten years. She has also performed with the Richmond Symphony, the Alabama Symphony, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and the Britt, Wintergreen, and OK Mozart Festival orchestras. As a chamber musician, she has performed in numerous concerts and educational presentations as a member of the Tulsa Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet. Her solo performances include appearances at several National Flute Association conventions, including the “Generation X All-Stars” concert in San Diego and as a semi-finalist in the Young Artist Competition in Boston. A recipient of multiple awards, Elizabeth was named winner of the 2007 National Flute Association's Dissertation Competition for her research on the flute music of Shulamit Ran. She was the 2nd Runner-up in the 2004 Myrna W. Brown Artist Competition and was awarded a graduate fellowship at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where she earned the Doctor of Music degree. She holds additional degrees from Northern Illinois University and DePauw University, and also studied music at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna. She has taught at a number of colleges across the country and currently teaches at Mary Baldwin College.
Andrew held titled positions with the Tulsa Philharmonic and Opera orchestras for eleven years. He has also performed as soloist with the Tulsa Philharmonic and the National Repertory Orchestra, and has recorded on Centaur Records as the Principal Cellist of the Chorus Civitas Orchestra on their compact disc of Ralph Vaughan Williams choral works. He has previously been a member of the Baton Rouge Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, Terre Haute Symphony, the Britt and Sunriver Festival Orchestras, and the Texas Festival-Institute Orchestra at Round Top. He has also performed with the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra, the Solisti New York Orchestra at the OK Mozart Festival, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Sinfonietta, and Light Opera Oklahoma. As a chamber musician, he has performed regularly in concerts and educational presentations as a member of the Tulsa Philharmonic String Quartet/Quintet. He has also been a member of the Riverside Piano Trio, New England String Quartet, and Han-LeDoux-Gabbert Piano Trio. As a teacher, he was a leading private instructor in the Tulsa area for over ten years and has taught as a Visiting Instructor at the University of Oklahoma, and as a graduate assistant at Louisiana State University.

Flute and cello...? What an interesting notion I had never considered for myself... perhaps I shall try. However, I am skeptical of my compositions...I couldn't hold a candle to your fantastic sound. Thank you for your kind message... Happy Holidays!
By Aces I meant like Ace Frehley, the lead guitarist for KISS. You guys are just like him, with all the makeup, platform shoes and screaming solos. Yeah, just like that...
