Terrence Brown began his professional music career in 1998 when he joined the Collective Voices Saxophone Ensemble headed by Odean Pope. The Collective was not only a working band but also a type of conservatory that instilled a depth of musical knowledge. It was here that he learned all the advance theoretical concepts that allowed him to "put the pieces together". In his relatively short career, Terrence has been able to establish a rather impressive resume for himself and is already widely known as one of the best young tenor saxophonists in Philadelphia! He has performed with such greats as Benny Golson, Max Roach, Michael Brecker, James Carter, Eddie Green, Joe Lovano, Butch Ballard (Legendary drummer who was a member of the Duke Ellington & Count Basie Big Bands), Carl Grubbs, David Murray & Odean Pope, just to name a few. Terrence is currently touring and performing internationally as a staple member of the highly acclaimed Odean Pope's "Odean's List". He also performs regularly, both locally and abroad, with the Odean Pope Saxophone Choir, To The Max Dance Band, his own group (The Terrence Brown Quartet) as well as other various artists in and around the area. In addition to a very busy work/traveling schedule, Brown makes the time to invest greatly in Philadelphia 's musical youth by teaching music lessons, during the week and on Saturdays, at the renown Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz. To compliment to his rigorous teaching schedule, he's also working on a new project which houses the more popular musical stylings of nu-jazz, neo-soul, hip-hop, easy listening and pop and has finished the first single titled "G's On It" from his, long awaited, forthcoming CD entitled "Guess Who". Presently, Terrence - who has been performing consistently overseas since July of this year - (the Charlie Jazz Festival-Vitrolles, France, Baalbeck International Festival-Lebanon, the North Sea Jazz Festival-Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Austria) is currently looking to solidify a few local/tri-state area gigs once he returns from his overseas tours in Portugal and Switzerland.
