Terri Laddusaw was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and was transplanted to SW Missouri as a teenager. She has lived in the Kansas City Metro since 1989 and for the past 10 years has called Lawrence, Kansas home. Terri has been singing for as long as she can remember.
*********************************************
Growing up the youngest of 3 by 12 years to the day (“I was a surprise!”), Terri was influenced by the music her sister and brother listened to…the folk music of the 60’s as well as the blues and pop/rock of the 70’s; The Beatles, The Stones, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Carole King, Karen Carpenter, as well as the Motown sound. Her early country influences were watching Roy Clark & Buck Owens on Hee Haw with her Grandpa and listening to a Lynn Anderson cassette that was one of the first her dad bought when cassettes were new. She also grew up singing all those good old gospel hymns in church, which is the strong foundation from which she sings.
***********************************************
As a teenager, she discovered Stevie Nicks and was so enamored she began writing songs and trying to play guitar more seriously. Terri also fell in love with the classic harmony sound of The Judd’s in the 1980’s which brought her right back around to her country roots. While she loves the “new country” sound, Terri prefers to play “unplugged” and keep things more simple. Her music is a mix of country/honkytonk/rock & blues. She’s a folk singer with a lot of different influences mixed in. She has done everything from singing in a choir to musical theatre in college to singing in a local country/rock band for several years in the Kansas City area but her true passion lies in traditional American music. Terri’s family roots run deep into Western Kentucky & Tennessee where her parents and grandparents were all born.
************************************************
Terri began playing guitar around the age of 10 but it wasn’t until she discovered Americana Music Academy in Lawrence, Kansas, and took a guitar class that she really became comfortable playing in front of people. “The first few jam sessions I went to, I didn’t take my guitar, now, I wouldn’t dream of showing up without it.” Along with her good friend Michael Paull, Terri is a 2-time state champion in the Ensemble Folk Singing contest at the annual Kansas State Fiddling and Picking Championships, taking first place in 2003 and 2005.
************************************************
Locally, she has worked with Michael Paull, Denny MacMillan, Cindy Novelo, Diane Gillenwater & Jolleen Thorpe of the bluegrass band Pastense, Phil Thompson of Judy Coder & Pride of the Prairie, Rick Faris of The Faris Family, JB King, Ed Brunt, Jim Krause, Joe Picket & Thom Alexander, as well as some extremely talented musicians from the Kansas City area – you know who you are.

Terri is currently writing and playing out as often as she can and will be recording her own solo project soon. Stay tuned!
