1980 was my first attempt at stand-up comedy. It took place at Clyde's Comedy Corner in the New Orleans French Quarter for an amateur comedy contest. The emcee was none other than ...Ellen Degeneres.
I was really nervous and.......I "Bombed." Ellen was very nice though. She sat me down and talked to me for about 45 min. saying things like..."Don't give up" and "You'll get better if you keep trying."
So... I gave up...
I didn't try stand-up comedy again until 16yrs. later for another contest.
(The 1996 International Cajun Joke Telling Contest in Opelousas, La.) Well I had a great show...(runner-up)
I decided to take a comedy writing class and began performing around New Orleans and the south with enough success to keep me wanting to perform. Now I have been doing stand-up for over 10 yrs. and have performed at some really nice comedy clubs and casinos.

The GUT-BUSTER Comedy Room 's Friend Space (Top 40)
no problem. i heard you are doing big things. i was told you were looking for new orleans comics to send you some footage for a contest involving performing at harrah's. is that right?
this is one of my favorite rooms that I have ever worked. To any comic thinking of working a room...you, honestly, can't beat it. Terry is a great guy and treated us right.
I also wanted to tell you that David and I went to see "Last Comic Standing," tour when we went to West Palm over the holidays. It was great!!!:) Made me think of you!!!:) See you guys tonight!!! Love U!!!:)
