Hawke Biography Part 1

I've been in the music media business for some 35 years, covering Space Rock, Electronic and Synthesizer music fanzines 'Celestius Datuum', 'Hawkfriends' 'Orbit' and C-60 audio-zines also called 'Orbit' [which evolved from a fanzine, to a then ground-breaking audio-zine!].

I was also very active in the early days of the 'UK Electronica' scene of the mid-1980's; associating with The legendary Jeanette and Dennis Emsley, Andy Garibaldi, Ron Berry, Steve Hillman, Dr Phil, and many others.

Although I took a short sabbatical, the love of synthesizer and space-rock music lured me back onto the scene, and this eventually culminated in 2002 by moving into local radio production, producing and presenting.

I currently have three shows on HFM, namely "The Hawke Chill Out Sessions" [weekly], "Night Hawke" [Monthly] and now "In The Mood". I've also been a festival and gig DJ for around 5 years, which further extended and enhanced my musical prowess.

My earlier and letter associations with such musical luminaries as 'Hawkwind', 'Tangerine Dream', 'Eloy', and individuals including Dave Brock, Robert Calvert, Harvey Bainbridge, Nik Turner, Dave Anderson, Huw Lloyd-Langton, Tim Blake, Steve Swindells, Jerry Richards, John Greves, Terry Ollis, Manuel Gottsching, Temple Hedz, Banco de Gaia, Steve Hillman, Peter Tedstone, Miss Angel, DebEspace, Richard Bone, Don Xaliman, David Wright, Robert Schroeder and others, that gave me a good basis for my show.

Many of these musicians have found themselves being interviewed both live in studio or as phone-link guest in my "Chill Out Sessions" programme.

Hawke Biography Part 2

For almost 4 years I was MTR's [UK Monster Truck Organization] offical music producer - namely MTR Promotions; travelling across the UK, and eastern Europe entertaining the crowds with music and special sound tracks, aimed to dramatise and enhance the races and the events in general.

My association with HFM Radio as a producer culminated with an opportunity to produce and present my own show back in 2004/5 - entitled the "Hawke Chill Out Sessions". The show was a blend of Space Rock, Ambient, Chill Out, Electronica music combined with live studio guests and phone-link interviews. In 2007 HFM 102.3 was launched as a community 24/7 radio station. My show returned on a weekly basis on Saturdays between 10pm and Midnight; and retained the same format as that of 2004 & 2005; gaining notoriety in the UK, Scandanavia, Eastern Europe, Canada, USA, Australia, Russia, Mexico, Greece, Isreal and beyond!

I also produced and presented several over-night shows which I called the "Night Hawke" [Midnight to 7am], which again caused some interest with the public. "Night Hawke" however, remains on a monthly basis; bu the music has now evolved into Trance, Dance, Techno and the Deeply-Chilled, to ease you into a Sunday morning.
