YOUNGER THAN YESTERDAY is a group featuring former members of THE BYRDS....
Terry Jones Rogers grew up in the music rich town of Macon, Georgia, and began his musical journey at 5 years old, as part of his family's gospel group. In 1969, Rogers teamed with local singer-songwriter Mark Heard to form the group, 'Infinity + 3', recording an album of mostly original material in 1970. College years in Athens, GA spawned the band 'Hawkey', opening for Goose Creek Symphony on several occasions. His time in Athens brought him together with Randall Bramblett and Davis Causey, which began a longtime friendship, and led to sharing the stage, opening shows with Terry's new group, The Pound & Rogers Band.
Toured the East Coast with 'The Pound & Rogers Band though the 70's, and recorded at Capricorn Studios under the direction of famed producer Paul Hornsby. Terry relocated to Atlanta,GA in 1980, and began doing shows as 'Terry Rogers & Friends', with old Macon friends, Jerry Sorn, Earl Ford, Bill Stewart, Matt Greely, and Billy Burke. He was invited to join the reformed group, The Byrds, in 1988, and fronted the band on national and international tours. Rogers relocated to Nashville,TN in 1993, where he was soon introduced to Scott Nienhaus, by their mutual friend, Supe Granda, of the Ozark Mt. Daredevils, which led to a longtime partnership, and an invitation from Rogers to have Scott be a part of the newly formed 'Byrds Celebration', following the untimely death of original Byrds member, Michael Clarke. The 'Byrds Celebration' continued to tour through 2002. This last lineup of The Byrds, Terry Jones Rogers, Michael Curtis, Scott Nienhaus and Tim Politte, now perform under the name: YOUNGER THAN YESTERDAY.
Terry also works with long time partner, Scott Nienhaus, as an acoustic-based duo, Rogers & Nienhaus, including many tours of Europe to support their CD, 'Empty Room', recorded in St. Louis in 1995.
When in Nashville, Terry teams with his former Byrds mate, Michael Curtis, to perform at the world famous Wildhorse Saloon, also performing solo, in Nashville, as well as GA, FL, and the St. Louis Metro area.
Now there is a new project, a CSNY tribute, called 4 and 20. This is a group featuring Terry Jones Rogers and Scott Nienhaus, with Mondin Band members, John Mondin, Paul Graves, Bob Werner and John Coatney!!
