“He can belt out a soul-felt growl as effectively as a heart-touching melody. The guitar playing is clean and refined”
- Jason Riggs of The Weekly and 91X
"San Diego’s acoustic music scene has grown to enormous proportions... While it’s gotten harder to sift through their numbers to find the truly talented ones, certain performers have begun to stand out. One such musician [is] Terry Matsuoka..."

Biography
Terry Matsuoka is a singer-songwriter with an indie mentality, intricate musicianship, tight pop songwriting and a soulful voice. His solo live performances far exceed normal expectations of what one might think could be accomplished musically and entertainment –wise with just a singer and his guitar. In addition to performing his songs passionately, he will improvise, rap, perform stunts, play percussion on his guitar and human beatbox with remarkable ability. At some venues he will also play with his incredibly skilled 4-piece band.
Matsuoka’s sophomore solo album delves further into the breadth of his musicianship, delivering soulful lyricism backed by a full band sound. His last album, Raw Acoustic Stylee, introduced his indie style with a truly stripped “down to basics” sound, using only acoustic instrumentation (i.e. no electric-powered instruments or manipulation). Totally Rad features Matsuoka playing all instruments (except for percussion by Aaron Irwin on “El Cajon”, and percussion by Irwin and human beatbox by Joe Naval on “Sour Cream and Chives”) which include acoustic and electric guitar, bass, drums, pianica and Rhodes keyboard. The result is an eclectic new sound.
Hey you're in the Asia: The Journal of CUlture and COmmerce for the beer and Sake festival. Looks like you're in line for food =D That was a fun night haha
Some friends and I really enjoyed your performance on Tuesday evening, July 1 at the San Diego County Fair. I didn't get the chance to talk with you after your set, since I left earlier than planned when one of my friends was feeling really sick (too much fair food!), but I hope to catch up with you another time.
dammit i missed your TV appearance because your newsletter said Sunday 6/21. My DVR was a day late. I should've just recorded Saturday anyway to be sure. Oh well, guess this means I'll have to see you live.

My name is J. I save all my poops and have them arranged in order of most gratifying to least gratifying. It's especially difficult because it's so subjective.
~ If you can't make this one, stop by to see me perform at ArtWalk 2008 in Little Italy on Saturday from 2:30pm - 3:30pm. I'll be at Stage 3 at India and Cedar!
