Singer-songwriter Terry Winchell is an alchemist, turning bitter sweet life experience into pure gold. Her music is street-wise with a transcendent positivity, at times mixed with humor. On Terry’s 2007 CD release “Vice Versa” (Woodzilla Records), her song “Snake” compares a scoundrel of a lover to a snake who brings her “down down down” yet never has acceptance of a hopeless situation sounded so uplifting. Terry shares her steely-eyed enlightenment in the song “Life is for Living”, her voice so penetrating it manages to touch the collective wound in all of us and heal it at the same time.
And her recent composition “Loma Bonita” conjures heartfelt impressions of Mexico, sung with love and appreciation.
Along with her sensitivity, talent and captivating voice, Terry brings the richness of her life experience to the recording studio, air waves and stage. Her empathy, reflection, conviction, soulfulness and playful nature inject the fullness of life into her music and lyrics.

BIO: Born in Roslyn, NY, raised on Long Island’s South Fork, and widely traveled since her teens, Terry grew up in family of iconoclastic musicians and artists. Her early contact with nature shaped her strong ethos of nurturing a physical and emotional ecology on which life on all levels depends.
Terry’s two successful CD,s, Under the Veil of Wilderness and Vice Versa (specifics on the CDs follow below), reflect her dynamism as a writer, composer and musician. She is working on a new album to be released in 2009, and recent enthusiastic response to radio play has prompted plans for an upcoming European tour.
Terry’s live performances are no less compelling. Always playing original music, she has performed across the U.S. and internationally. A partial list:

Her recent song, "When the Sun Goes Down" (Poetman Records/ Acoustic Rainbow Vol. 31), earned a top-ten spot for most-requested song on 1,300 radio stations in the U.S., Europe, Australia, Canada and Japan.
Terry’s talents have enhanced films and theater productions as well, both artistically and through powerful social commentary, ranging from breast-cancer awareness to the plight of the uninsured. As you may or may not be aware SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something a little different from previous years.
This year we are going to take over the club and host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!
It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm
As well as raising money for the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk - Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae - Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!
Enjoyed meeting you and hearing your showcase at the Indiegrrl Conference. I've been meaning to write but have been slammed getting everything finalized for next year's event location. Nashville, TN ! ! So let's catch up and I would love to have your imput on how to make the event better and maybe you present a workshop. :-) Vicki
I have to say, I am very excited and quite humbled to have been named "Volunteer Of The Year" by U.N.A.Y.O., (United North Amityville Youth Org) for my work with their youth and also their Girl Scout Program. U.N.A.Y.O is a WONDERFUL youth center that offers a lot of programs for the youth in our area from tutorials and school extra help to summer programs, karate, dance, Girl Scouts from Daisies to the Senior Level, Leadership and Cultural Studies, just to name a few. They do receive some financial aide from the County and State level but believe it or not, they LOST funding last year because they were too successful with their programs so the funding went to other less successful centers. (Oh how I LOVE modern politics as you all know by now.) They also need donations on the private level to help their programs continue. U.N.A.Y.O. is planning an awards dinner on Saturday, Sept. 27th to honor those that have helped make a difference during the past year and those nutty guys have included me in those being honored. So how can you help you may ask?? Well, they are putting together a Special Awards Journal for this event which is being published in honor of the center's achievements and to recognize those that share their lives with the youth of U.N.A.Y.O. They are looking for Advertisement Donations and here's where you come in. For as little as a $5.00 donation you can have a booster line in the journal and for only $10.00, you can have a copy of your business card in it. Local musicians ... when was the last time your contact info went in anything for just $10.00 AND....100% proceeds go into the youth programs. You just can't beat that!!! Businesses, studios, non-profits.....please jump on this wagon! You can take out a full page ad for only $100.00, 1/2 page for $50.00, 1/4 page for $25.00. Want the inside cover? $150! And again...100% OF THE PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE YOUTH PROGRAMS!! Please contact me ASAP with your order! Xx Robin Eve
