.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..Tessa Jetson Umasked...... .. .. .. .. .. .. ..CUT - The Movie - Brought to you by Women's Aid...... .. .. .. .. .. .. I have been singing around Melbourne for years in covers bands then her original band Xcentric formed with all family members, till that came to an end in 2005. Xcentric formed in the 90's from jamming at home with covers with my family we are all very musical and then for fun we tried one of our own songs and we were like that actually sounds cool. Then my cousin Jamie and I started writing all the songs. Back when we started in the 90's we did not have all the technology we used tapes for demos and manually copied them it took ages. Back then I was no good at computers cut and paste meant I cut and pasted to make posters, its funny now. I still have a box of our tapes and that tape recorder in a plastic box in my garage, one day we when we are in our rocking chairs we will have a good laugh. None of us in the family were trained musos but my family are amazing natural musos they would some times swap instruments for the night at gigs. My brothers Clinton and Daz both, bass, drums and guitar as well as my cousin Jamie, my sister Tracee started as the original drummer till she retired (well got married). In Xcentric we had one of our songs played on Triple M and an interview with Fiona Horne live on radio. Xcentric has also supported Killing Heidi and played nearly every pub in Melbourne and also Broadford and heaps of other festivals over the years we had so much fun, I loved this time hanging out with my family. My daughter recorded backing vocals on one of our songs Colors when she was only 5 and she also sang at festivals. Xcentric to me was also a huge healing part of my life as I had been through allot and had came out a women’s refuge in 1993 and had to start my life over and would spend allot of time with my family on the week ends. I had started writing all my feelings down for some time. Some of our early songs were pretty angry but that was part of getting that out of my system. Screaming on stage was awesome at the time having girls come up to me and saying I can relate to that was pretty cool. I now sing for a cause and the songs are positve. The current CD is written by me and recorded to raise funds and awareness against domestic violence. (her daughter Debbie recorded and co wrote one of the songs on the CD as well, would you believe she is musical in runs in the family, she can sing and has a guitar but at the moment she sings at my fund raising events only, but she is getting her own band together) there is a cover of Only Women Bleed on the CD. All funds from the CD go to The Salvation Army, I had to wait along time to get into a refuge and I don’t want other women and children to live in fear while waiting for a safe place to go, not till I was attacked very badly that I got in after years of moving around, restraining orders, going into the refuge was such a happy day I cant explain I had not felt safe for 3 years. The CD can be brought from website www.tessajetson.com (the link on my site takes you directly into the salvos shopping cart) PLEASE HELP SUPPORT WOMEN AND CHILDREN LEAVE VIOLENT HOMES AND BUY THE CD. I set up [B]RAVE – Bands Rock Against Violence Events, this was formed also to support women and children leaving violent situations by raising funds and awareness to say violence is not ok, my passion is to stop women and children to living in fear and being abused. [B]RAVE runs an annual event that is run as part of The White Ribbon Day National SAY NO TO VIOLENCE WEEK IN NOVEMBER. All money raised at [B]RAVE events go directly to the salvos women’s refuges dept every cent is to help women and children be able to have a safe place to go to. We aim to raise awareness against domestic violence by having bands play in support of this cause to say violence is not ok. This will really reach out to the community in a huge way and you will make such an impact. We would like bands who would like to support this cause to perform, the next one is 28th November 2009 contact me if you want to perform. Having bands joining us standing up and saying violence is not ok and donating their talents and time to this silent but growing problem will make such an impact to this cause. Go to www.bandsrockevents.com to see info. I am jamming with my brother Daz in for unplugged gigs we are called the Jetsons coming soon to a venue near you, we play just for fun!!!!!!!!!! .............. ....Myspace Layouts.. at Pimp-My-Profile.com / ..Hot Graphics.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -
