   About Tessellators [O! Mighty Sea EP]

WOW! Tessellators YEEEAAAH! CARRY ON READING! HOTT!

Tessellators are based in London in the United Kingdom and are available to play anywhere in the world for a modest, negotiable fee (usually between £0 & £Beer).

Tessellators share a love of Built to Spill, Captain Beefheart, Battles (especially live), The Band and Fugazi. Individual members' tastes tend to vary and this is not an exhaustive list of their influences.

The four Tessellators were in the band 'the Hundred Handed' for several years. Sadly for all concerned, their singer & driving force announced that he would leave (amicably) in late-2006, which led to the creation of Tessellators after Dan, Beare, Alex & Moh resolved to start a new venture together.

Dan plays the guitar & sings. Beare plays the bass, the guitar & sings. Alex plays the drums. Moh plays the keyboard, the guitar & sings. At some point in the future any member of the band might play something else, like the tambourine or the trumpet. Multi-tasking is good.

The name 'Tessellators' could be a reference to how the individual shapes that each member creates fit together to make a larger, more complex pattern. Maybe this will be suggested in print at some point in the future. Similarly, 'Tessellators' could be a reference to how the band members have to efficiently organise their equipment into a confined storage space week after week. It is unlikely that this will ever be suggested in print. The naming process was long and involved a complex points system that was largely ineffective.

========================================

Our Plan : We are (fingers crossed) going to release 3 EP's in a year (2007/2008).
One detailing adventure, another concerning the sea, and one about the city.
Current Status : 2 down, one to go.

All EPs are £2.50 (inc worldwide P&P).
Or they are in fact £2 at gigs.
Alternatively you can email us via band@tessellators.com.

Our 2nd EP is done. Huzzah! It is titled the O! Mighty Sea EP.
Each handmade sleeve has a rotating compass* on it. Plus there's a lyrics booklet.

This cover put our arts & crafts skills to the test.
*Compass is cardboard and will probably not point to magnetic north.

O! Mighty Sea EP [2008]

 1. Holiday Homes
 2. Icebreaker
 3. Trade (Can Be A Bloody Business)
 4. Gravel Bed
 5. Small Boats Are Shaped By The Lives
Of Those Who Make And Use Them

A zip file of the O! Mighty Sea EP is here.

========================================

Our 1st EP is done. Huzzah! It is titled the Red Admiral EP.
Each cover has been lovingly and unquiely hand-coloured by a Tessellator.

Red Admiral EP [2007]

 1. Lost Cartographer
 2. Mountaineer
 3. Death mask
 4. Intrepid
 5. Votives

========================================

We had a great day recording the O! Mighty Sea EP on a sunny Saturday from 11am til 6am.
To get a nautical atmosphere while playing, various amusing attempts were made to dress up. See the photos below of Moh rocking out on guitar as "King Neptune" and Beare with nautical tea towel on head.

Rum was drunk and bananas were eaten to keep us playing til the wee hours.

Next came the arts & crats session for the covers at Dans house. Good times!
Here is the compass cover in action.
