Actual Bio -
From a town where an original music scene is close to obsolete, Test Theory have done their best to revive it through all necessary means. From playing any and all gigs offered, to putting their own gigs on for young up and coming bands, the city’s only screamo band worked hard to get its struggling music scene on its feet, and the guys would like to say they have made an impact. Putting on 7 local gigs in the past year, with over 200 people at each, the band’s DIY ethic has helped them a lot in their little town, and their Goodbye Darwin gig had over 300 people supporting them. In 2008, the boys headed down to Melbourne, Victoria, in search of greener pastures.
With the innate ability to keep the melody in heavy music, Test Theory draw influence from a huge spectrum of artists, including The Used, Circa Survive and Alexisonfire. They’ve worked long and hard at their sound, keeping acoustic sensibility and sweet melodies, but coupled with heavy double kicking and crunchy breakdowns. However, Test Theory shine most during their live shows. Huge amounts of energy are expelled and shared between the crowd and the band, going so far as to be compared to the live shows of At The Drive In and The Dillinger Escape Plan.
The boy’s sophomore EP, Silent Spaces, is a huge progression from the first. Choosing to go it all by themselves, they recorded at their own home studio, and in an effort to capture the energy that their live show provides, all the drum, bass, and guitar tracks were recorded in single takes, with very little editing over the entire CD. The tour supporting the EP garnered excellent reception from all present, and hopes to tour more are high for the band.
