About me:
UPCOMING SHOW: Repetition
Curated by Robert Deeds
Saturday, June 28
8:00pm - late, free
The Texas Firehouse is proud to present Repetition, curated by Robert Deeds. Featuring work by the finest artists that both Texas and New York have to offer, Repetition is an exhibition comprised of artists whose works are heavily rooted in the concept of dynamic visual rhythm. With each artist delivering their own interpretation of what it means to depart from the standard applications of static work.
The presence of rhythm creates predictability and order in a composition. Visual rhythm may be best understood by relating it to rhythm in sound.
In addition to the art show, Garth Stevenson will perform a piece for double-bass and surround sound. Our very special musical guests will be Tigerbeat6 and Monitor Records recording artists Indian Jewelry. If you haven't seen Indian Jewelry yet, you are way past due. A host of DJ's will round out the evening, ensuring that the night will be most memorable.

Located @ 36-29 Vernon Blvd. in Long Island City and run by a bunch of Texans and a couple other dudes. Our staff includes artists Wyatt Nash, Jeff Thompson, Seth Mittag, Robert Deeds, Ken Wiatrek (aka kenconsumer,) and Brandon Davis (aka The Electric Set). We like to party.

The Texas Firehouse is located in a 150 year-old historic firehouse in Long Island City, New York, just across the river from Roosevelt Island and Manhattan (best rooftop BBQ view in town). Housing studios and shop space, the Texas Firehouse is transformed for one night into a gallery and performance space.
Shows are curated by Firehouse artists and are generally group shows around some curatorial theme (archives of past shows can be found to the left). In addition to artwork, each show usually includes at least one performance artist(s) and one band (and free-flowing beer, of course).
The Texas Firehouse has been in the hands of artists for many years, but has recently undergone a complete renovation, spear-headed by Wyatt Nash (who really deserves credit for getting this whole thing going).
So go check out PS1, the Noguchi Museum, or Socrates Sculpture Park (all within walking distance), then come on by for some chili, art and music, and good old southern hospitality.
