Born in Dallas Texas, Bruce Bowland fronted his own band by the age of 14. He spent the the early years playing the clubs of South Dallas, singing mostly blues and James Brown covers.
Bruce met Tommy Shannon and Uncle John Turner in the Summer of 1970, and moved to San Francisco to be one of the founding members of "Krackerjack". Bruce then moved to Houston briefly to form “Rattlesnake” with Uncle John Turner, and Roy Cox, and guitarist Benny Valerio. He soon moved to Austin to join “Blackbird” which featured a talented local guitarist by the name of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Bruce ,Stevie, Tommy, Uncle John, and Robin Sylar decided to resurrect Krackerjack; the band became one of the most popular in the State.
Later, Bruce became one of the founding members of the “Texas Sheiks,” with Jack Morgan, Keith Ferguson, and Uncle John Turner. He returned to Dallas with Jack Morgan where they worked in several bands together, such as “Roscoe.” He also teamed up with Smokin’ Joe Kubek in groups such as “The Pinch” and “Smokin & Butane’s Insane Blues Thang.” He later performed with guitarist Kim Davis (PointBlank) in the “Electrics” and another reformed version of the “Texas Sheiks of Rhythm and Blues.”
Bruce recently joined up with with the reformed "Krackerjack" that included the original band members; Tommy Shannon, Uncle John Turner, Mike Kindred, and John Stahely. They recorded their first record in 2005– thirty four years after first performing together.
TY GRIMES - Drums
From The Armadillo World Headquarters to Carnegie Hall Ty Grimes has done it all. Ty grew up in El Paso Texas but headed for Los Angeles after graduating from High School. Once in Los Angeles Ty and some fellow El Pasoans landed a record deal with an Atlantic subsidiary that did not pan out. But things did pan out for Ty when he Landed a gig with Rick Nelson that lead to gigs at Carnegie Hall, Don Kirschner‘s Rock Concerts, The Midnight Special, The Tonight Show, Lear Jets, Limo’s and the whole “Rock Star” dream. Ty stayed with Rick for two years and one recording.
The one thing that was missing for Ty was more challenging music. Ty found what he was looking for in Captain Beefheart who he played with for several years. Ty spent 3 years with Tim Weisberg and did session work with Spencer Davis.
Ty moved back to Dallas after the L.A scene started to cool and played with Marc Benno and Robin Syler. The Farlow Brothers from California joined Ty in Dallas and the tro did so well Ty says he made more money with that band than the with his Major Acts. Ty later joined Jack Morgan, and has done extensive touring with Robert Ealey and with Smokin Joe Kubek. Ty once stayed in Europe for a solid 6 months playing in Ealey's band. Ty was even in a couple of Movies - as stated in the beginning "Ty Grimes has done it all!"
KEITH HIEBNER - Guitar
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Keith was exposed to some of the most amazing live music. His live, up close, and in person influences were Billy Gibbons, Johnny Winter, Freddie King, John Stahely, Jimmie Vaughan, Stevie Vaughan and a few non Austin guys like Eric Clapton, Leslie West., Albert King and B.B. King. In more recent years players like Albert Collins, Pete Anderson, Eddie Shaver, and David Grissom. were added to the stew that when blended together influence Keith's style and sound.
Keith has had the opportunity to gig or sit in with Kansas, members of Fiona Apple's Band, Coco Montoya, Pine Top Perkins, the Howlers (on loan from Omar), James Mc Murtry and many other talented musicians that now include Ty Grimes and Bruce Bowland.
Keith Has gigged from Seattle Washington (where Henry Cooper--Northwest Blues Slide Guitar Award winner-- and Keith played some shows with members of Fiona Apple's band.) To Macon Georgia where his early Band Koko is featured on the Famous Grants Lounge Wall of Fame along side of the Allman Brothers, Wet Willie, Marshall Tucker, and more. Keith has played on many recordings including a song by Dee Ford of Atlanta that hit number one on the regional charts.
DANIEL WILLIAMS - Bass
Daniel was born and raised in Clarksville Texas where he started playing bass at age 17 and joined his first professional band at the age of 21. While attending college as a music major, Daniel was influenced by an instructor who taught him to be more open to all styles of music by a quote. “Don’t replace styles in your repertoire but add to them”. Daniel took this to heart and like his favorite bassist Jeff Berlin, Daniel try’s to emulate no one but instead tends to listen to bassists with an original style.
Daniel has gone on to perform with some of Dallas’ hottest blues and blues rock acts such as Lance Lopez, Lucky Peterson, Andrew “Jr. Boy” Jones, Tu Tu Jones, Smokin’ Joe Kubek and various others.
Daniel played on Lance Lopez's CD "Wall Of Soul" that featured Eric Gales as well as Doug Pinnick of Kings X. Amazons review of the recording included this about Daniel. "Lance Lopez has found the ultimate rhythm section to round out his heavy power trio in the form of John Garvin on drums and Daniel Williams on bass. Two awesome players in their own rite who lay down the perfect foundation / groove for brother Lance to trip his awesome heavy guitar riffage upon."
