Cross Little Feat and The Grateful Dead and you have The Richard Davis and the Texas Red Legs Band. Fresh sound with old souls and tight harmony. They're on The Texas Music Road Map. My favorite new band of 2008, watch for these guys!!! Brett Dillon - KHYI - 95.3 fm "The Range", Dallas, Texas.

" THERE IS A NEW NAME ON THE COUNTRY MUSIC LANDSCAPE, AND THAT NAME IS RICHARD DAVIS"
Josh Jones/ General manager KHYI 95.3 the Range/Co-owner of Shiner Records.
"Long Way to Lubbock," ... Dense and poignant, "Lubbock" is just one of the nine gems collected on Rattlesnake Inn, making it one of the surprise local releases of the year. Hell, even when Davis has the misguided chutzpah to title an original song "Tupelo Honey," he and his band have the ability to bring a new take to a classic theme.
Very reminiscent of The Band (not at all a bad thing), Davis and his Texas Red Legs forge together their own sturdy take on Americana, combining the passion of prime Steve Earle with the mystery of '70s-era Dylan. Produced by drummer Tomy Lee Dudley, Rattlesnake Inn is as accomplished a first effort as one is likely to stumble upon; the singing is appropriately ramshackle, and the instruments fade in and out almost on cue as Davis details various countrified concerns, such as getting somewhere in a hurry ("Burnin' Down 35") or looking for love in all the wrong places ("She Fell in Love at the Jukebox").
As a songwriter, Davis' debut finds him on equal footing with both Rhett Miller and Brent Best. And from start to finish, Rattlesnake Inn delivers the alt-country goods with power, passion and (thankfully) absolutely no polish.

Thanks for coming by everyone. We finished Rattlesnake Inn and it is receiving Radio play on KVET radio in Austin and KMOD in Tulsa as well as the Netherlands and in Belgium. The album was completely self recorded and financed and was produced by our former drummer and multi instrumentalist Tomy Lee Dudley.
Take the sonic Mayhem of the Pixies, the lyricism and earth formed soul of "The band," and the tonal and free energy of the "Grateful dead," and you'll find your self on the foothills of the new revolution: The Texas Red Legs.
Our music can be purchased from Gunslinger in Bandera, Banderamusic.com, Bill's Records and tapes in Dallas, Itunes, rhapsody, lastFM. We are also being played on hosstheboss.com, allsouthernrock.com and on wcom.com

From their upcoming album, The Floor’s Made of Lava, “One Snowman to Texas” sways through one snowman’s heartrending journey to be with his dear snowwoman. In Colorado, she fell in the Rio Grande and was swept south to the Gulf. Now our hero, holding his molecules together with sheer will, is off to Texas just to succumb where his dear snowwoman now resides.
Parallel Play’s harmony enriched single captures a level of love that takes “One Snowman to Texas” beyond just a song, but that of a Texas legend.
You found where I stole it, awesome! Had fun last night inspite it all, and its always a pleasure listening to the Red Legs jam. I'm taking a cue from you last year and we're hitting the studio immediately and doing our project our way. Gotta keep moving forward. Later yall!
