    Crashcam Films is in post production for what our own Riff Scandell has coined ROLLERDERBY’S DOGTOWN. This from the Hell On Wheels website:

    Hell on Wheels is the ass kicking documentary film telling the story of a group of Texas women who band together to resurrect roller derby for the 21st century. Emerging from the Austin music and arts scene, these women create a rock and roll fueled version of all-girl roller derby that has spawned the derby craze currently sweeping the nation’s underground.

About me:

The Texas Rollergirls are sexy, athletic, tough-minded, big-hearted women. Comprised of four all-girl Rock'n'Rollerderby(R) teams (Hustlers, Hell Marys, Hotrod Honeys, & Honky Tonk Heartbreakers) and one all-star travel team (Texecutioners). The league was born and bred in Austin and is committed to preserving the history of roller derby while updating it with a rock & roll, good-time, Texas twist. Public bouts are held at Playland Skate Center - the Texas Rollergirls homebase - as well as skating rinks throughout the United States! In addition to regular-season bouts, the girls also skate in exhibition games and are available for personal appearances.

Think you have what it takes to be a Texas Rollergirl?
Well now's your chance!

We are holding open tryouts on Monday, October 12th at Playland Skate Center (8822 McCann Drive). Tryouts begin promptly at 7:00 pm. If you have your own skates and equipment (helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads, mouth guard) please bring them. If you don't have equipment, there will be some available for you to use during tryouts. If you don't have skates, they will be available for rental at the rink for $2. Before coming to tryouts, please fill out a registration form here www.txrollergirls.com . For more information about tryouts, contact Rita Menweep at tryouts@txrollergirls.com.

Hell Marys 43 vs Honky Tonk Heartbreakers 45

The Hotrod Honeys claimed the Texas Rollergirls 2009 Championship trophy at Sunday's bout against the Hustlers. In the opening game, the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers were victorious over the Hell Marys, taking third place for the season. Stay tuned for a full recap and photos and don't forget to join us again September 6th at Playland as the all-star Texecutioners take on the B.A.D. Girls from California.
