   About Terrapin Flyer

Since 1999 Terrapin Flyer has featured a revolving cast of prominent members of Chicago's vibrant local music scene. Band members include current and former members of Cornmeal, The Dark Star Orchestra, Jack Straw and others. Often it pairs local musicians with such notable musicians as Vince Welnick (RIP), Melvin Seals and Tom Constanten for regional tours. The band has also performed with Sugar Blue, Fareed Haque and David Gans among many others.

The nature of the band is improvisational and involves deep uncharted exploration in the medium of Grateful Dead and related music. No two Terrapin Flyer shows are ever the same and you never know who might show up to jam at a show, but you can always count on a great time with some of the most recognized artists in the music community! The premise around the music is to take songs by the Grateful Dead and related artists and to bring them to some place new. Keeping the magic that was the Grateful Dead alive is central to the band's philosophy.

FGC's got two hometown area shows this weekend! Friday is an all ages extravaganza at the House Cafe in Dekalb, and Saturday is a hometown throwdown at the Abbey Pub in Chicago (Ages 18+). Fans that attend both shows can pick up a FREE FGC album of their choice at Saturday's show (just grab the Free Album Coupon at the House Cafe and redeem it at the Abbey Pub)!

In other news, FGC is also excited to announce that the band will be celebrating New Year's Eve 2009 at the Redstone Room in Davenport, IA. Our third New Year's in a row at this incredible venue, we will once again be pulling out all the stops! Stay tuned for more information on this year's theme, advance tickets, and other details.

And finally, don't forget to check out the band's new Video Blog, a weekly series featuring a behind the scenes look at FGC performances and touring. Check out the YouTube playlist for the last few editions, and stay tuned for more in the coming weeks!

  Dear WISCONSIN fRIENDS,

Here in Wisconsin we have a small window of opportunity to reclaim the public's right to use whatever medications, either natural or prerscribed in the maintenance of their health.
I'm talking about the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act. Cannibas
hemp has been used as a medicine for centuries. Eli Lilly had many preparations made from hemp that's recorded in their pharmacopeia in the 1920's. The DEA's Law Judge issued a statement that 'In it's natural state, marijuana is the most therapeutically active substance known to man.".
Many who are like myself and have neuromuscular ailments are prescribed drugs that are far more harmful to us than the symptoms
we are trying to get rid of. For myself it's about not having my kidney's shut down from trying to stop muscle spasms and ending the nerve pains that run down my legs that no drug prescribed by any doctor can ease.
Ideally,as a Constitutional Right,we should be able to use any product that has a positive effect on our individual health. Cannibas
hemp whether smoked, eaten or vaporized can do that for millions of patients and that right of choice should be ours, not lawmakers.
But we find ourselves needing the aide of Lawmakers to get that right returned to us.
  If you support a person's right to use cannibas hemp or use it yourself, PLEASE contact you local Senator and State Representitive at;
and tell them to make the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act a law.  Thank-you

Hey Doug, I was rummaging through the attic the other day and came across some old photos and various record albums from past endevours. I thought my fans would like to take a glimpse of Old Gil's past,  since most of the albums are out of print, so I took a couple shots and posted them in my pics folder.  Enjoy!

                    Welcome GrandParents
of the Southern Medicine Wheel

  We Welcome the Grandparents of
the Southern Summer Medicine
Wheel bringing their Loving Energy
that makes green and growing that
which was planted and sprouted by
us within us  with the guidance of
The GrandParents of the Eastern
Spring Medicine Wheel.
We thank the GrandParents of the
Eastern Spring Medicine Wheel for
their guidance in the tending of
those things we planted within
ourselves and we wish to see come
into the World. We wish them well as
they ready their time of sleep and
look forward to their return in time
as all things do.
We thank the GrandParents of the
Western Summer Medicine Wheel
for growing those seeds we planted
and are now growing into view that
we may better understand what we
are bringing to the Creation.
We thank you for the Greening
Energy that allows us to see how well
we've taken care of those seeds of
thought that govern our
relationships with our Family,our
extended Family, The Earth and all
that Walks,Crawls,Swims,or Flies.
We thank the GrandParents of the
Southern Summer Medicine Wheel
for their guidance in this time and
their Energy that will bring us a
clearer vision of what we are growing
in the gardens of our Hearts and
Minds and what they will bring to All
in Creation.
We Bless you for Being. We extend
our Grateful Hearts to you for your
Loving Guidance and thanks for the
Energy that you bring,Now and
Always through
All Time.
