Talmadge Conway, know to his friends as T and to the music industry as T. Conway (a.k.a.) T.G. Conway, is a native of Philadelphia. He started his professional career at the age of 16 as a vocalist and become active by singing in several groups. One group in particular was Frankie Beverly and the Butlers, hey were popular during the early sixties in the northern regional area.
He also became a part of the Philadelphia sound of the sixties by singing background for several recording studios and record companies such as Cameo Parkway which at that time was one of the biggest independent record companies in the country and doing background work for such recording artists of the sixties as Chubby Checker, Bobby Rydale, Fabian, Dee Dee Sharp just to name a few.
From 1965 to 1967 he was drafted into the U.S. Army for two years during this time he played in the second to none brigade combo band of Fort Gordon, Georgia and receive several awards and letters of appreciation. After receiving an honorable discharge from active duty he enrolled in the Granoff School of Music where he studied classical and modern techniques in reading and playing the piano. He also studied voice and classical and modern harmony and theory and graduated with high honors in 1969.
In 1970, he began playing night clubs in Philadelphia and the surrounding area with several different bands and in 1973 he began searching for a different approach to commercial musical entertainment. He formed a group called Spiritual Concept with ideas ahead of its times. However, it was during the creation of this product that Gamble, Huff, and Bell recognized the multitalented T. Conway and immediately signed him as a writer, arranger and producer.
During T’s employment there and with other music companies, he wrote over a hundred published songs, which included R&B,Jazz Fusion,Rock, Disco, and Gospel. Today, some of these songs are still being played all over the world. He also produced many songs, some of which have been featured in major movies. T’s music has sold gold and platinum for various record companies making all who believe in him proud to be associated with him.
Throughout his career, he has wrote for many artists such as "The Temptations", "The Whispers", "The Spinners"; "The Dells","The Trammps" and many more too numerous to mention them all.
