| General | My family, friends, and community, biblical criticism, ancient and medieval history, biographies of the giants of science (on whose shoulders we all sit) and seeing the humor in everyday occurances. | | Music | Music is named for one of the greek mythological entities which helped explain the creative powers of the arts and sciences -- poetry, arts, instrumental music, drama, dance... Among their names, you may find something you recognize: Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urania. One of these days, I will have to make a more profound study of them all! I especially enjoy piano and guitar music. I am also an aficianado of flamenco -- music AND dance! | | Movies | I like to laugh. I am looking forward to Borat! | | Television | Sesame Street was fun, but I haven't watched it since my 34 year old daughter was 4! I especially enjoy, currently, Law and Order, CSI, Lost, Dateline, 20/20, Nova and, once in a while, Jay Leno and/or Dave Letterman! | | Books | I am a voracious reader. In the last 6 months, I have read books by James Patterson, Dean Koontz, John Saul, Patricia Cornwall, Steven King, plus textbooks on Microbiology, Biochemistry and physics! | | Heroes | My mom and dad! May they rest in peace. All the rest of the myriads of people whom I admire pale in importance in my mind to them. They brought me into this world, honed my imagination, encouraged my curiosity and allowed me the personal freedom to reach out to the vast body of learning which was appealing to me, as well as supporting me as I attempted to satisfy my need for community out-reach. About me:
I am a graduate of both the University of Texas in El Paso, and California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California. I also attended Oregon State University, University of Virginia, University of California at Los Angeles, Pepperdine University plus the University of Miami (Ohio).
I am happily married. I have two wonderful children from my first marriage. My son is a mathematics teacher and my daughter runs a non-profit travelling veterinarian service for people in economically depressed neighborhoods. I have two additional children who were part of the package which I received when I re-married. My wonderful wife had two children from her previous marriage. One of her children is the manager of a specialty restaurant here in El Paso while the other is a Technician for the local Subaru, Saab and Suzuki dealership. All four of these adult children bring joy and happiness to me daily. It has been a real adventure blending my second family with my first!

Who I'd like to meet:
People who are as passionate about Life as I -- political leanings are unimportant, as long as you are logical, knowledgable, passionate and open to a free exchange of ideas. Politically, I am a GDI (Gosh Dern Independent) but find myself most often voting for democrats.
