  • Bio

Singer, dancer, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Temu Barcot was given the gift of music as a child, and has been tearing it up on stages around the world ever since. Watching Temu perform, it can be hard to believe he’s really just one person. He moves effortlessly from mellow soul to raged-filled rap, from to talk-box p-funk to sophisticated ballads – covering an astonishingly varied musical landscape in performances that are tightly focused, yet warm and intensely human. Depth is another word that comes to mind, and it’s no wonder: As a child in NYC, Temu spent five years singing in the prestigious Boys Choir of Harlem and The Young People’s Chorus of New York City – performing at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and many other world-class venues. Today, you’ll hear Temu’s voice on the multi-platinum hit “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa” and on recent recordings by Denmark’s The Urban Night Crew, The Majors and Negash Ali. But do yourself a favor and hear this unsigned wunderkind in person – always with a sizzling live band that makes sure Temu gets it real on whatever musical journey he takes you.

  • Influences

My influences come from all around and on many levels. My home inspirations range from the early 1900's until now, primarily African-American. I was fortunate to have been exposed to such a spectrum from Gospel, Blues, Jazz,Funk, and Fusion to modern Soul, Hip hop, RnB, House, and new fusion types of styles. From Paul Robeson to Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Micheal Jackson to D'Angelo, Brian McKnight, Jagged Edge, and R. Kelly. Now if u want get into all ther styles, then maybe you should contact me 'cause im not gonna write all of that stuff right now. Anyway I have taken much influences from other types of music like Rock n Roll, Classical, Country, Heavy/Death/Speed Metal, Alternative Rock, and many other Ethnic World Forms/Genres(again, unwilling to list all of that right now). When one gets the opportunity to know me you find that I take elements from all around and channel it into my own original product.
