Influences
My influences come from all around and on many levels. My home inspirations range from the early 1900's until now, primarily African-American. I was fortunate to have been exposed to such a spectrum from Gospel, Blues, Jazz,Funk, and Fusion to modern Soul, Hip hop, RnB, House, and new fusion types of styles. From Paul Robeson to Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Micheal Jackson to D'Angelo, Brian McKnight, Jagged Edge, and R. Kelly. Now if u want get into all ther styles, then maybe you should contact me 'cause im not gonna write all of that stuff right now. Anyway I have taken much influences from other types of music like Rock n Roll, Classical, Country, Heavy/Death/Speed Metal, Alternative Rock, and many other Ethnic World Forms/Genres(again, unwilling to list all of that right now).
When one gets the opportunity to know me you find that I take elements from all around and channel it into my own original product.
Sounds Like
I did alot of straight Rnb and hip hop but later on i began to journey off into many other things. So now its alot of fusion like arrangements with soulful vocals at the forefront. The arrangements can include elements of jazz, gospel, international traditional(Latin, Asian, African, Arabic), Funk, Punk/Rock, Death/Metal, Reggae, Drum n Bass etc. You get my drift... right?
Born May 31st, 1984 in New York City. Temu-Devi Bacot was named after the “God of the sun” and “he who liveth again”, according to the Egyptian “Book of the Dead”.
Temu, a.k.a. Thelonius da Gemini, at 18 years of age has become a songwriter/arranger/producer/engineer and vocal stylist on par with the current list of hit-making artist.
A prolific songwriter and vocalist who has his ear to the street and both feet planted firmly on the ground.
Thelonius da Gemini’s music and vocal style has been compared to the smooth and syncopated styling of Stevie Wonder, Craig David, Jagged Edge, Nate Dogg and D’Angelo. With a vocal range from bass baritone to second tenor, Thelonius has created his own style of sultry soulful voicing and tail grooving, neck moving music.
Temu Bacot began his vocal training at the Boys Choir of Harlem and the New York Young Peoples Chorus. His musical abilities include playing piano/synthesizer, drum set, world percussion and DJ-ing, while dancing and having a natural gift for drawing and illustrating compliment his entire package.
Born to a professional ballet and modern dancer, Mimi Bacot, Temu was taken to vocal lessons and dance rehearsals as a child taking the entire experience in by osmosis. Hence, his ability to naturally sing and dance. We see why music is truly his first love.
A strong will and spirit driven by a focused sense of purpose and originality, Thelonius da Gemini has the skills to evolve into a 21st century Quincy Jones, Brian McKnight or Pharell Williams.
