TOKIO HOTEL
Band history:
Tokio Hotel was founded by guitarist Tom Kaulitz and singer Bill Kaulitz, drummer Gustav Schäfer and bassist Georg Listing. The four met in 2001 after a concert in Magdeburg. Under the name Devilish, the band soon began playing in talent shows and small concerts. After Bill Kaulitz's participation in a children's Star Search in 2003 (which he lost in the quarter-final), he was discovered by music producer Peter Hoffmann. Devilish changed their name to Tokio Hotel ("Tokio", the German language spelling of the city Tokyo, Japan, which they love, and "Hotel", due to their constant touring and sleeping in hotels), and Sony BMG took them under contract. Hoffmann hired David Jost and Pat Benzner into the team of creators and authors, and had them give the teens instruction on songwriting and instrument playing. However, shortly before release of their first album, Sony terminated their contract. In 2005, Universal Music Group took Tokio Hotel under contract and developed a marketing plan. Several DJ's such as Basement Jaxx, Melodik Pinpon, Bob Sinclar and Givichy Universal have remixed Tokio Hotel songs.
Success:
Their first single "Durch den Monsun" (Through the Monsoon) quickly gained popularity after its release, appearing on the German music charts at number 15 on August 20th and reaching number 1 on August 26th 2005; it reached number 1 on the Austrian music charts as well. Their second single was "Schrei" (Scream), which climbed to number 5 of the German charts. They released their debut album Schrei on the 19th September of 2005; lead singer Bill Kaulitz, with the assistance of professional songwriters, wrote the majority of the songs. In early 2006, their third single "Rette mich" (Rescue Me) was released, and it reached number 1 as well. Their first single from "Zimmer 483" (their second album) called "Übers Ende Der Welt" (Beyond the End of the World) was released January 26th, 2007. It has also reached number 1. The "Zimmer 483" album was released on February 23rd, 2007. A deluxe addition of the album is available as well. The "Zimmer 483" tour was supposed to start in March, but was delayed by two weeks because the band members wished to use a new stage. However, all of the tickets bought for the tour are still valid.

G'day mates, my name is Lara Schaefer (english spelling), and I am the street team leader for Tokio Hotel in Australia. Um, call me LaLa coz everyone does and I run this Street Team with my twin sister Jessica (or Je as she signs.)
