   Tha.Speakeasy's Blurbs
About me:
Tha.Speakeasy is the fusion of the minds of Gretchen and Tamara, and a bunch of other friends. It was born in a night of drunken splendor and philosophizing of the broken sanctions at work in the art community. Initially, it was going to be an international magazine to take the world by storm. As people sobered up and moved on, Gretchen and Tamara would occassionally meet up for more drunkeness and talk about this idea. They sobered up enough to realize the international idea probably wasn't going to happen, and maybe a more local approach would work. The two drunken layabouts realized that in a college town of the size of Morgantown, there had to be more artists, who want to share their work. They knew there were also people, who needed to have more of the arts in their life. Going on the field of dreams premis, they decided to build a format to bring together the reclusive, the outrageous and the pensive alike. Thus, Tha.Speakeasy was born. *Editor Note* Gretchen is just in it for the cheese and crackers. But now she is not directly involved in Tha.Speakeasy, though she does send her love and appreciation for the whole shebang. About the show: Tha.Speakeasy is a three-round poetry slam. (For a general overview about poetry slams- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slam_poetry) Poets sign-up at the door. In-between rounds, people with the music and the instruments make with the sweet sounds. Any type will do. Qualifier for music-must be original. In fact, that is the qualifier for all of this. Judges are selected from the audience. However, judges can be swayed by the audience. So if you like it- scream for it. Let 'im know. It is held at Club Octane, which is 18 and over. And the ultimate winner receives gifts from local businesses. Tha.Speakeasy is brought to you in part by the number 69, the letter R and the Morgantown Association of Poets...a one stop shop for folks who like the poetry and want to know where to get some. Here's the web site: http://www.angelfire.com/poetry/map/ . More will be added as time goes on.
Who I'd like to meet:
People who: Enjoy the arts Have an opinion Are originial Like to perform (the arts) Want to be heard Are scensters, punks, freaks, social outcasts, liberals, feminists, angry, depressed, manic, goth, emo, all of the above or none of the above Are looking for something More Want something different to do on a Wednesday

Hopefully this will be a huge event. I plan on doing the walk, but don't know if we'll catch the shows. Help spread the word, even if it just get more people out to watch. lol

The Warner Theater is going to be doing a Zombie Walk on October 26th. Here's the deal, you show up at the Mountainlair in your best zombie get up, then at 8:30pm, we'll all descend down High Street and end at the Warner Theatre.

After the walk, there will be a double feature at the Warner with the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD as well as the local zombie film DIE & LET LIVE starting at 9pm.

Tickets are $6 for both films or $4 for just one.

The screening is open to everyone, not just zombie walk participants. However, anyone dressed as a zombie will get a FREE POPCORN!

If you don't have the skills to do your own zombie makeup, there will be makeup artists availible at the Mountainlair who can get you zombified for a small fee.

Walk will start at approximately 8:30pm, but it's recommended that people start showing up around 7:30pm so we can get everything organized.

"Think globally, recycle locally" this is a forum for Morgantown WV / USA and surrounding communities to help reduce waste by re-using. This forum creates a platform where people can offer unwanted items that are still useful for free to anyone wanting the items listed. Why not connect with someone who may want what you have! Feel free to post anything from albums or cd's to furniture, fabric, tools, bikes, electronic equipment, kitchen gadgets or even just boxes! Whether you have something to offer or you wish to acquire, post'em up and wait for a response. Please Post only one email with multiple items to keep emails to a minimum. No 'for sale' items here we may start up another site for that later.
Mike Manypenny is this group's owner. You can contact Mike at

Hush Little Witch
(Unknown source)

Hush little baby don't you squall
Momma's gonna buy you a crystal ball
And if you still can't see beyond
Momma's gonna buy you a magic wand
And if that wand don't change your fate
Momma's gonna teach you to levitate
And if the astral makes you sick
Momma's gonna buy you an incense stick
And if that frankincense smells rank
Mom'll buy a sensory deprivation tank
And if that tank don't float your bones
Momma's gonna buy you some some precious stones
And if those gems don't ease your heart
Momma's gonna buy you a natal chart
And if your planets go berserk
Momma's gonna buy you some bodywork
And if your aura still needs kneading
Momma's gonna buy you a past life reading
And if your destiny stays hid
Momma's gonna buy you a pyramid
And if your chakras still feel stressed
Momma's gonna take you on a vision quest
And if power animals don't come to charm ya
Sorry, kid, it's just your karma!
