Boston's savior of traditional funk-rock and soul music is Berklee guitar faculty member Thaddeus Hogarth. A native of England who grew up in the West Indies, Hogarth has been a prominent figure on the Boston music scene for years, first developing a reputation as a powerful singer, songwriter, and guitarist for the Heavy Metal Horns in the 1990s.
Since then Hogarth has been leading his own group, writing recording and touring in the Northeast US and Canada. The band line-up includes drumkit and percussion virtuoso JoeyScrima (Connie Stevens, DavidBenoit), bassist David Buda (Boston Pops) and DavidSparr on keyboards. This band holds nothing back and the live shows are electrifying. Thaddeus and his band have recently shared the bill with the likes of such legends as Tower of Power, Average White Band and JohnnyWinter.
In recent developments, Thaddeus and his band are one of only 24 music acts that were hand-picked to represent Bose in live music venues nationwide for the launch of their new Personalized Amplification System (tm), a revolutionary new system which was used in the production of his current Award-winning cd, "Live at Bose" (Best R&B Album 2006, Indie Music Awards)
Thaddeus' music highlights his skills as a world class singer/guitarist/chromatic harmonica player and composer, but of note is his ability to break new musical ground while simultaneously paying homage to the heroes of 1970s soul such as Sly Stone, Stevie Wonder, and Bill Withers. Thaddeus' music has been described by Billboard magazine as "Soul Terra Firma" and he has been pegged as a "guitar virtouso" by the Boston Globe. Groovy tunes with a profound message.

Loved the show at Bose the other day. I listen to your cd all the time. Your guitar playing and songwriting has been a big influence for me. Hopefully you'll be coming back to Bose soon.
