Thane is a singular entity made up of individual musicians from varied backrounds. Conceived by A. Erickson (Bass), the band solidified quickly with the addition of C. Maney (Guitar) and is now based out of Oakland, California. Augmented by the inclusion of the Brothers Grim (A. Bane and T. Maestas) in 2008, Thane stepped away from black metal stereotypes by embracing other influences including ambient, gothic and doom. In 2009, Thane completed their first full-length album "We Awaken" and added keyboardist E. Green to the line-up.
