The Thankful Birds refuse to settle. They can’t be just jazz or jazz-fusion, just funk, just indie-rock, or even just rock. They aspire to do it all, to have it all, and to play it all. That being said, this quartet has been described as a modern reinvention of 40’s jazz, a new twist on 70’s funk, as well an accomplished rock band that goes beyond power chords and transcends radio ready repeats…by the same person. Whatever style they endeavor to play, they bring a fresh perspective and draw a crowd.
With powerhouse, signature songs that evoke strong emotions and iconic images, there is hardly time to chat. But when a speaker blows or the lights won’t come up, these seasoned professionals know how to keep the crowds’ attention with sharp wit and humor.
Thankful Birds take stock in what is most important: the music. They hone their craft, seek new sources of inspiration, stay in tune with what people want, and try to spend as much time making music as is humanly possible.
