Tha Prospects are one of the fastest rising duos in the streets of Durham, North Carolina. The 21 year old emcees go by the names of Yung Wyse & Yung C-Zer. The duo started out part of a hip hop collective called the Microphone Blessing Alliance. They began their grind in high school, rapping and selling their own mixtapes in the hallways between classes and during lunch.
"Tha Prospects Got Next!" It's more than performances and mixtapes; it's a movement. Tha Prospects have coined themselves "Campus Celebrities" due to their fast rise on the campus of North Carolina Central University. Even in high school, Tha Prospects began their celebrity status with Yung C-Zer being named "Best All Around" and Yung Wyse being named "Most Talented" in the senior superlatives. From high school to college, Tha Prospects have always been the biggest name on campus, getting recognition in the school paper and gracing the stage with artists such as T.I. (Grand Hustle/Atlantic Records), Raheem Devaughn (Jive Records), YoungBloodz (Laface Records), L.E.G.A.C.Y. (Hall of Justus) and many others.
Tha Prospects credit much of their knowledge of the game to Ice Rocka (CEO, Stillhouse Records), 9th Wonder (producer for Jay-Z, Destiny's Child, Mary J. Blige) and Dj Skaz Digga (tour dj for Big Daddy Kane).
Yung Wyse and Yung C-Zer have a diverse portfolio which includes a track done specifically for a theatrical show, "Broadway Revue'd." Tha Prospects re-made a hip hop version to the popular song "Skid Row" from the off-broadway musical "Little Shop of Horrors." The musical, "Broadway Revue'd," was directed by Dale Sanders (American Idol contestant).
The Stillhouse Records recording artists, plan to further promote their movement with their new mixtape, "Campus Celebrities." Set to be released early 2007, the mixtape will feature Jozeemo (Hall of Justus), Phocuz (World Vision Music Group), Carlitta Durand (Little Brother's "Life of the Party), Broadway (Jenkz Ent./Extended P$C) and others. The mixtape also features the track, "The Anthem" which has become the most popular song on the campus of NCCU.
