- Of all the Fox sitcoms that appeared during the 98-99 season, this was the only survivor.
- Mila Kunis (Jackie) was only 14 when she auditioned for the show. Everyone who auditioned had to be at least 17 years old. When producers asked her age, she misled them by saying, "Well, I'll be 17" and neglected to say when.
- Mila Kunis (Jackie) has two different eye colors: one blue, one green. Laura Prepon (Donna), called her a husky, since she has two different eye colors.
- Danny Masterson's (Hyde) younger brother, Christopher Masterson, was on a few episodes of That '70s Show as Todd the cheese guy who kissed Jackie.
- Laura Prepon (Donna) and Christopher Masterson (Danny Masterson's younger brother) began dating after he was on That '70s Show. They started dating in 2000 and moved in together in 2001. The pair unfortunately split in late 2007.
- An early idea during the show's development phase had Eric and Hyde fighting a bitter rivalry over Donna, but the idea was tossed out as the show and its characters developed.
- After the cast finished filming the pilot episode, they had a standing ovation from the studio audience. For a pilot and unknown actors and a new series, a standing ovation on a new series is rare.
- In the first season in episode "Eric's Burger Job" we meet Donna's little sister, Tina Pinciotti, but will never hear or see of her again. In a Halloween episode the narrator actually says "what happened to Donna's little sister?"
- In the first episode of the first season, Donna's mom Midge mentions something about how a book of poetry got her through a tough time when "Valerie" left for college. Whoever this "Valerie" character is, we can assume that this is Donna's older sister, but like Donna's little sister, Tina, we never hear of her again. Interestingly enough we actually get to see what Tina looks like, as with Valerie she never makes an appearance other then being mentioned in the first episode and then never heard of again.
- Point Place, Wisconsin is fictional suburb made up by the writers of the show.
- In the first season in episode "Grandma's Dead" we meet Red's brother, Marty Forman, but, like Donna's little sister Tina, we never hear or see of him again throughout the rest of the series.
- Lisa Robin Kelly, who played Laurie Forman when the show debuted, abruptly vanished following the second season and was cut from the opening credits half-way through season 3. Her agent released a statement saying, "Lisa has had problems, but she has been healthy for 2 years. It was a mutual decision for her to leave." She returned back to the show for one episode at the beginning of the fifth season and appeared in a few episodes toward the end of the fifth season, only to disappear again at the beginning of the sixth season. She filmed the first few episodes of the sixth season, but her scenes were never aired, since Christina Moore was brought in to replace her. To keep consistency in the sixth season, Kelly's scenes were re-taped with Moore replacing her character for the entire sixth season. Her character then disappeared for good after the end of the sixth season due to negative response of Moore. Other then being mentioned a couple of times, Laurie's character, physically, never comes back for the rest of the series.
- The fifth season episode titles are all Led Zeppelin song titles, the sixth season are all The Who songs, the seventh season are all Rolling Stones songs and the 8th season's titles are all Queen songs.
- The show was initially titled "Teenage Wasteland" and later "The Kids Are Alright." The names did not catch. Noticing that audience members, in focus groups, would say, "I like that show about the '70s", or "I like that '70s show" it was eventually decided to simply call the series "That '70s Show."
- Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson, and Wilmer Valderrama are all best friends.
- Topher Grace and Laura Prepon are best friends.

- Chuck Norris was the initial choice for Red Foreman, but was still filming Walker, Texas Ranger, so Kurtwood Smith was cast instead.
- Topher Grace (Eric) was off the show after the 7th season and did not comeback for the 8th and final season. He did come back for a small part in the last episode of the series. He left the show to work on Spider-Man 3. According to the "E! True Hollywood Story: That '70s Show," it was rumored that the cast was a little bitter toward Topher, since he was the central character on the show, but this was never confirmed.
- 'Josh Meyers' was originally hired to take on over the role of Eric Foreman, who had been played for seven seasons by Topher Grace. A now long-haired Eric would have returned unexpectedly from Africa "a changed man", thus explaining his different appearance. This idea was nixed when the producers decided it might offend Grace's fans. So, a new role, that of "Randy" was created for Meyers, who was already contracted for the 8th season. Though due to negative response, his character storyline was quickly minimized.
- When Donna and Randy started dating in the 8th season, it is reported that thats when fans stopped watching the show, and as a result ratings started to drop (though they were dropping at the start of the season). Fans were upset with the new character Randy and were upset that Eric had broken up with Donna and that Donna had and started dating Randy. Many fans were not expecting Donna and Eric to officially break up.
- Season 8 is the shortest season out of the 8 seasons, only being 22 episodes.

- Tanya Roberts (Midge) unfortunately left the show after the end of the third season so she could focus on taking care of her husband who was suffering from encephalitis. He unfortunately past away June of 2006. She then later returned for 1 episode in season 6 and 4 episodes in season 7, only just to leave again. It is explained by Midge's daughter, Donna, that her parents figured out "they were better apart then together." - Red and Kitty also had a motorcycle and 1959 Corvette.

- Kitty's real name is Katherine, but is referred to most of the time on the show as Kitty Forman.
- Red's real name is Reginald, but, like Kitty, is referred to most of the time on the show as Red Forman.
- The name Fez was suppose to be an acronym for
Foreign
Exchange
Student (although it ends with a letter z to reflect how it is pronounced).
- In the second season, we find out that Jackie's middle name is Beulah. But in the first season we see Jackie wearing a shirt with her initials of JSB on it.
- When Jackie gets a job at the cheese house, there is a reference made to Sophie's Choice (1982). The movie did not come out until 1982 and the book was not published until '79.
- In "The Water Tower", when Eric and his family are eating dinner, and he starts imagining Red and Kitty naked, you can see that Kitty is wearing a tube top, and is not actually naked.
- Whenever Eric's last name is shown on a transition in the beginning of a show, his last name is Spelled "Forman". In episode 7-10, on the calendars Red has printed for his muffler shop, Forman is spelled "Foreman".
- In the episode, Grandma's Dead, when the grandma died on Eric's shoulder while taking her home, you can see her blink.
- In one of the episodes, Eric has a Spider-man pillow cover. But the image is that of the newer Spider-man series (Fox Kids series) and not the Spider-man cartoon series in the '60s and '70s.
- In one of the Christmas episodes, when it snows, the snow doesn't fall on the cast at all. And it appears it snow in one spot, less in the other spots.
- Several times in the series when donuts are present, they are in a Krispy Kreme box, but Krispy Kreme donuts did not come to Wisconsin until the 2000's.

- Tommy Chong (Leo) was absent from the show while serving a 9-month jail sentence for selling "drug paraphernalia" (water pipes or bongs). He expressed surprise later that this wasn't written into the show's storyline. He then appeared numerous times on the show as a guest star, but then re-joined the show again in it's 8th and final season to help replace Topher Grace and Ashton Kuther, since they had both left the show.
- Ashton Kutcher (Kelso) left after the 7th season and guest starred on 4 episodes of the 8th season. He left to work on his movie The Guardian, but does return for the series finale.
- Laura Prepon (Donna) had to dye her naturally red hair blonde for the 2006 film Karla, in which she played the title role. As a result her character Donna Pinciotti changed hair colors for the show's final two seasons.
- In many scenes, Mila Kunis (Jackie) had to wear platform heels or sit down just to appear in the same frame as Laura Prepon (Donna) due to the height difference.
- Even though the show lasted for eight Years in real life, storyline wise, the time line only went from 1976 to 1980.
- Some may notice that on the DVD covers, seasons 1-6 all have characters on the side of the box art. For some reason the last 2 seasons don't have any characters on them. Mila Kunis' character Jackie was not featured on any of the sides of the box art.
- Actor Bret Harris, who plays Charlie Richardson, the son of a fellow war vet that Red knew, was suppose to be a new character to help replace Eric's character in the 8th season. But, Mr. Harris was offered a lead role on new television series called "The Loop" right before the 8th season of production started (the show "The Loop" has since been canceled). Since Mr. Harris took the job for the lead role, he guest starred on the first episode of the 8th and final season to help explain what happened to his character. It is explained, and shown, that his character had fallen off of the water tower and died and as a result, the water tower was renamed "The Charlie Richardson Memorial Water Tower."
