Set in the village of Stapleton, the residents of Thatch Close are far from normal. Is it true that a U.F.O full of aliens control the destiny of everyone’s lives: would this figure why they are all so strange?
Sit back and hold tight, for the road ahead is a bumpy ride. Seeing a U.F.O hovering over the tops of the houses in broad daylight and in plain view of the passers by will be the last thing that may strike you as being odd. One thing’s for sure the people of Stapleton village might all be stuck out in the sticks, but there’s never a dull moment in ‘Thatch Close’

Hi I'm Darren Carrington the creator of my comedy series 'Thatch Close' which originally began as an early short 45 minute film i did back in 1994 with help from my school friend Robert Semple, it all took off from there really. Years later in 2002 i decided to re-create my original story again, I kept the comedy element in the scripts that I had originally started with in 1994 and added new idea's to update it to the present day.
'Thatch Close' is a comedy about a close in the village of 'Stapleton' the cameras visit each house with various characters such as dope smoking Tanya 'Flower Girl' Fisher, and her so-called Gran Deirdre Fisher whose an alcoholic and a misery and not Tanya's Gran at all...is it true Deirdre's a man? All is revealed within the series.

Meet The Wilson family there's Esther and Mike Wilson and their two children Tammy and Tommy. Living with Esther isn't the most easy thing in the world but that doesn't give Mike any excuse in seeing another woman around the close. And Tammy wants to be a solo pop artist, and starts to seek out auditions around the country firstly coming across 'Bone Idol' the only thing being is that the auditions are taking place in the city and Esther and Mike are not taking her too seriously
Theres Cheryl Hamilton who's about to lose her house to her butler Benson who is having a secret love affair with her husband George who owns all their property and works overseas.
Janet Bennet and her boyfriend Sam Finchley who is the village Doctor. They are the nice couple of 'Thatch Close'
and the cast goes on....
A large set of the close was firstly created for the series I then branched out from there. I went onto building the main characters living rooms and the odd kitchen and bathroom sets, I still had a few original character pictures which my Sister had drawn for me back in '94, I basically gave her a name and a rough idea for the characters.
I do recall that Tanya Fisher and Deirdre Fisher where the very first characters to be invented, by having these few drawings and rough character descriptions I made the Puppet of Deirdre, then Tanya and after that Kathy Collin's the others began to follow, until the cast was complete for series 1.
Only the orignal series 1 and the photos of that Series will not be shown on 'Myspace' as the footage was all filmed on VHS. The series that now exists and is the master is still called 'Thatch Close' and still is series 1 the storylines changed quite abit.
So began series one of 'Thatch Close' and with a collection of brand new characters with names such as Carmel Thornton, Jansam Fin, Neil Duncan and Bill Yates, I started writing all new scripts and everything soon began to fall into place as if I had never given the idea a break.
So now it's your chance to learn whats behind the doors of the strange neighbours of 'Thatch Close' is it true that a U.F.O governs their lives and controls everyone's destinys? Prepare yourself as this show is completely no holds barred...

My earliest influences of TV dramas, that fuelled my desire for Writing were 'Widows' by Lynda la Plante: ‘Dynasty’ and although remembered for its slightly theatrical portrayal of life inside a woman’s prison: Prisoner: Cell Block H' by Reg Grundy. My writing concentrates mainly on tough, successful, powerful and determined women that will stop at nothing to get where they want to be in life. I would appreciate you taking a few minutes of your time to view my work on a project that displays my abilities as a dedicated Writer. My adult puppet drama series ‘‘Thatch Close’ is the most recent project to fully occupy my time.
I’m in the process of looking for the right Production Company to take my work and Writing to the next level. I have all 16 episodes in script form at hand. In the mean time, all information on the series can be found on the website www.thatch-close.com. In addition, there is a two minute trailer: including Episodes One, Two and Seven featured on the website www.youtube.com.
Thatch Close is aimed at a target audience of 15-35 due to some of the nature of the characters and some of the storylines. Currently there are 11 full and edited episodes,
I’m open to changing my work and working around obstacles that arise. Each episode lasts for approximately 29 minutes. The running time includes a recap of the previous episode, opening titles and end credits. As I have stated, I’ve written up to episode 16, so there is plenty in store for all of the principal characters. Please see enclose a synopsis of the series. The website includes a deeper description of character profiles, behind the scenes puppets, props, set building, latest updates on the series and various photo galleries, all of which are updated on a regular basis.
The original idea for Thatch Close began in 1994 when I was at school. A decade later I rewrote the scripts and began filming again. The overall concept remains the same today. I taught myself how to make the puppets and sets. When they were finally ready I started filming using a DV camera. A few other professionals have helped in the production process.
