We would like to take the time to say that you, the fans are really what this is all about. We need you to give us the energy we feed off of when we are on stage, we need you to give us the drive and inspiration to write new songs, and we need you to tell your friends so we can make more fans and continue to grow. Without you, we are nothing. Please tell your friends about us. Please tell us where you want us to play. Please tell the places you want us to play to get us there. Above all, please continue to enjoy the art that is music and support your local musicians, because without you, there is no us.
Hello and thank you for reading this important disclaimer and history of That Dam Band. That dam band is Mark von Dam and Dan von Dam. The von Dam’s were born to rock! It is the only thing that can be said about such a great duo. Fate finds our intrepid heroes at an early age practicing their budding musical prowess. They would often film these escapades to the recorded music of their muses. Shortly after witnessing one of these recorded rehearsals, if you will, a young man named Robert W. Pittman was inspired to create a television station devoted to “musical videos”.
As time goes on, we find the von Dam’s evolving into rock gods and inspiring many new acts around the globe, not the least of which was a young trio from the northwest that combined pop and punk with metal to create a sort of “dirge rock” at the behest of our musical monarchs. This trio would later become reluctant poster boys for an entire dissatisfied generation.
After a brief hiatus to explore new social and theological trappings, our heroes return to the scene with renewed appreciation for their talents and a new determination to bring the world a totally new enterprise named after them and bearing the moniker That Dam Band. And as such, our musical ministers have chosen to allow you to be one of the many prophets preparing the masses for their poignant principles.
If it could possibly be described, I guess that they sound like Soundgarden in Chains meeting with the Foo Fighters, Modest Mouse, Queens of the Stone Age, and many other yet unheard of bands (because they have yet to be influenced by our friends sonic beauty), combined onstage in a glorious transcendental dream, or meeting to discuss music over Pad Thai.
The vonDam’s have become regulars and favorites at legendary local venues including Peabody's, Wilbert’s, Roc Bar, and the Grog Shop. A perennial favorite of club owners, their particular brand of rock rouses memories of the greats as well as the newest rockers. Their shows have produced a steady following of fans and made friends of old and young alike. With many successful shows under their belts, the von Dam’s only remaining goal is world domination. Our instrumental ingénues are sure to delight and amaze men women and children in equal amounts. (Caution, their sonic assault has been known to produce fits of sexual satisfaction in listeners (especially post teenage women.)) Tee shirts – buttons – bumper stickers and other chattel will provide excellent reminders to all who attend to bring new partisans to the next show at your venue.
Thank you again for choosing the best possible music experience for your club/venue.
