Sounds Like
A circus train wreck't into a folk revival next to a hobo camp where wandering jews eastern europeans and other estranged folk have been learning Irish drinking songs from Tom Waits.
We are the Dark Carnival jug band that you brought home and kept you up all night playing music on your front porch and in your living room. You were so hung over that you missed work the next day, and didn't regret it one bit. As a matter of fact you quit your job and joined our dark caravan!
“The 999 eyes won my heart. Their fun and raucous show stays true to the carnival spirit.” Sansa Asylum, Yard dogs Road Show
"A delight to the ear, a remembrance of times gone by with a modern flare… a time when Freak Shows Graced the Midways." John Robinson, www.sideshowworld.com
THE BAND:
THAT Damned Band sounds like a circus train wreck into a hobo camp where some eastern europeans and jews are learning Irish drinking songs from Tom Waits. THAT Damned Band is an accordion driven group of multi-talented songsters, which pay musical tribute to eastern European, yiddish, and old-tyme vaudevillian era music and styles. THAT Damned Band features a unique arrangement that includes Accordion, Clarinet, Jug, flute, saw, Resonator Guitar, Washtub bass, Tuba, Drums, and washboard. An emotionally charged musical set is spiced up with gags and puppets by Lowrent the clown, and occasionally by REAL LIVING HUMAN ODDITIES.
THE FREAKSHOW:
Freak: n.A human oddity that has chosen to share, celebrate and exploit his/her own genetic anomaly through performance.
THAT Damned Band provides the background music for the 999 EYES Authentic Freakshow – the last traveling freakshow in the United States focusing on REAL LIVING HUMAN ODDITES with MEDICAL ANOMALIES, and a MUSEUM OV MUTANTSTROSITIES. The 999 EYES freaks occasionally make cameo appearances with THAT Damned Band.
The 999 EYES is the Worlds last authentic traveling Freakshow featuring real living human oddities, the largest in over sixty years. The 999 EYES was featured on National Geographic’s Taboo on Nov 11 2007 and just finished filming for the Women’s Entertainment Television show Real lives of Women. The 999 EYES includes but is not limited to members such as the Human TRIPOD, the Dancing DWARF, the FLIPPER Man, the LOBSTER Girl, the LOBSTER Boy, the 27” SMALL WOMAN, Erik the Gentle GIANT, Katzen the TIGER LADY, Lowrent the CLOWN, The Great Gozleone, SWORD SWALLOWER extraordinaire, and has seen guest performers such Eak the GEEK, Danny the HALF-BOY, Guinness Record Holding sword swollower Dan Meyer. Complete with the attractive backdrop of original hand painted sideshow banners, the 999 EYES will transform any venue into a carnival midway. And don’t forget to check out the blow-off act, outside the venue and after the show… watch as Lowrent the Clown, our fire clown, sets off a fifty foot fireball!
