If any of you ever go to any of the better dive bars around L.A., you may have noticed that for a couple years now they've been mixing some country into their DJ's sets, but there's really nobody playing those songs to those people.
...that's where we come in.
Basically, we play all of the stuff that we grew up hearing in mom's car, (or dad's truck if your family somehow stayed together), which is to say 50's-70's pop country and southern rock...
...in other words, we're not doing some obscure-record-collector-hipster alt-country wankfest. We're here to entertain other people as well as ourselves.
We do draw the line about 1980, though. I mean, come on, Billy Ray Cyrus...WTF???
We try make this all kick a little more ass, though. Not like with distorted guitars, which are gay, but to pump up the dynamics, especially where the drums are concerned, as country drummers have a tendency to be boring. Think country, but with the bombast of rock.
The idea is, when you remember a song that you haven't heard in a long time, you always remember it as kicking ass, but then when you actually get the song, you find out it's a little slower, a little softer and not as cool as you remembered it.
...we play it like the memory. To hell with the finesse.
