'Its The Kid' better known as That Kid ERA!
The name Era originated when a child hood friend would beat box and throw in the words, “Era eraaa eraa” as if he was scratching a record. It was a simple phrase that he decided to pick up and use as his stage name. Era says it was something that makes him remember where it all started and something that symbolizes the essence of hip-hop. “It’s a big misconception when people think I’m calling myself the new era, or labeling myself as a time period. It’s something simple that I picked when I was young and decided to rock with it.”
Most notably known for his smooth flow and catchy hooks Era has proven to be a well-rounded and respectable emcee with his story telling abilities and real life lyrics. Want to meet Era? Go and look for the kid you catch rapping in the cipher in the corner of a party. Supplying the people with witty down to earth lyrics to the point where you don't know whether to laugh or to cry. So if you feel undecided just bob your head because as Era will tell you Life’s Too Short and this is the only moment where everything feels timeless. Enjoy!
Born in the birthplace of Hip-Hop (coincidence?... not likely) The Bronx N.Y. He later moved to Westchester *914* for grammar school. The young emcee has been involved in hip-hop for as long as he can remember. He began writing rhymes shortly after his father passed away when he was 10 years old. After linking up with good friend and co-worker “Showtime,” in 2002 he began making real music writing and recording with better quality. The two teamed up and worked hard throughout high-school putting out two albums with two other members, Geno Flamez & B-Dot under a group named H.I.A.
After high school Era went on to continue with his solo career while still collaborating with the members of H.I.A. but also working with new artists and producers all over from New York to Michigan. As time carries on and long hours are put in Era tries to remain to stay hungry and humble, knowing that he’s doing what he loves and every day is a blessing.
