Valerie Thompson and her cellos (celli, if you feel like being proper.)
The Jensen
The German
The French (pics coming later-she's shy)
Influences
The Russian Spy, The Cricket, The Tortoise, and The Street Punk (you know who you are.)
Sounds Like
The Russian Spy, The Cricket, The Tortoise, and The Street Punk all wrapped into one package of Midwestern-y goodness that has been corrupted by coffee and the rough and tumble life of the East Coast.
*Former Principal Cellist of the Jake Leg Jug Luggers-rip snorting old time and the Yurodivy Quintet-ecclectic avant-chamber music (both now defunct, but the spirit lives on!)
*Scored and played cello for Bonylil's Creation (short film by Miss Zea Barker.)
*Also seen in the Neovoxer Ensemble.
*Active freelance cellist and happy to provide cello services to others for live performance or recorded media.

Tale 1 from Valerieland (a true story)
One day while walking with her cello on her back, Valerie passed by a cheerful, yet homeless gentleman in Harvard Square.
As Val whizzed past him, onto someplace "very important," he called out to her.
"You carry your best friend with you." he said, referring to the growth on her back that some would call an instrument.
A truer word she had never heard spoken to her by a complete stranger.

Tale 2 from Valerieland (another true story)
One day while walking with her cello on her back, Valerie passed by a man who appeared to be homeless.
Taken by the instrument on her back, he engaged her with questions regarding it's nature.
Pleasantries were exchanged. The cello was discussed, her new friend mentioned his interest in music and his ability to play the harmonica.
As the conversation wrapped up and the two parties started off on their seperate ways, the gentleman took one more knowing look at Valerie and said,
"You know, you really do have a big butt."
Honest...that's what he said...

SNAPPIN! FINGERS! YES!!! A question: Rumor has it you, Valicious, might have some chairs (yes, chairs) needing a temporary home? Is this true? Do let us know!
See you tonight at LUCY PARSON's, 7PM WOO WOOO WOOOOOOOO!
Val, What's the great song you and Vessela do that's in 6/8 (or 3/4) and has the lyrics "books were meant to be read / tears were meant to . . . " I LOVE it!
hey you darlin'! i'm looking for that air india flight you mentioned...is that the name of the airline? i cannot seem to locate any such airline. any advice?
Excellent! We sealed the deal yesterday! We get the lease as of 4/15 - psych! Still working on the other 2 roomies, but several definite possibilities. Yay. Time to learn Morse Code I guess. Sigh.
awesome I'm glad you likey. feel free to use em to ur hearts content, thats why i marked em. :D I'm working on a myspace for my photography (phantangible photography) sooo when it appears and friend requests you...you should accept it!
When I first saw your friend request, I thought, "Dang, not another musician." Then I realized it was you. You're so much more than a musician I don't know, so it's okay. Rock on.
You lack nothing in Grace. Have fun on the Solstice show with Metal and Glass Matt and make sure your friends know as a write up in the Globe, Herald or Phoenix will amount to exactly nothing.
In our over hyped overmarketed time, with junk mail, tele-pest calls, spam, product placements in movies, and focus groups for rutabaga flavored doritos, people defend themselves by ignoring everything.
Your personal impact on those who care about your work and life is all you really have and the core of having an audience. Pass it on.
PS, Electra also wants my help planning an itinerary, 15 cities, either November 2008 or March 2009. You will be included.
me either! i should have more than just pics to show by then too, little projects, drawings etc... yaay still awake go sooo wrapped up in artmakingfaceness and now its early enough that other people (like you!) are waking up!
