Music has always been a part of my life. From listening to grunge on 105.9 in Pittsburgh in middle school, to skimming through metal magazines and buying self-produced demos high school, to my massive online network I use now, I'll always love my music. I listen to many bands, styles and genres. Rock is where my heart beats and always will. The list will be short, for my old one was too long to read. These are my favorite artists (with links so you can find their music, as well):

    The Birthday Massacre
    Burzum
    boysetsfire
    Clann Zú
    Covenant
    Declan de Barra
    The Dismemberment Plan
    Drain STH
    Flogging Molly
    The HorrorPops
    Mayhem

    ohGr
    Opeth
    She Wants Revenge
    Slayer
    Th' Legendary Shack Shakers
    The Traditionals
    Tub Ring
    White Zombie

Outside of my "Top 20," here are other artists who have been frequenting my car stereo:

    Tommy Gutless
    Il Attire
    Raggedy Angry
    Singine

Many styles. A few favorites are Terry Pratchett, Poppy Z. Brite and Chuck Palahniuk.
Craig Ferguson's "Between the Bridge and the River" is a favorite. I'm also reading Yeats and Rumi a lot. I've also been reading non-fiction WWII books. Oh, and I like comic books, 'cause I'm a friggin' dork.

  • Heroes

Many people I look up to aren't popular, but I know who they are and that's what counts, right? Now of course my father, Scott , and his parents, Ann and Scott , are numero uno.

    Boo!

My grandmother, Ann, was one of the strongest people I've ever met. My grandfather, Scott, was great at making me get off my butt to study and work. I miss those two...

About me:

So about "Erick"...

I'm just myself. I enjoy my gray flat cap, like to be around my friends, chill out by myself, talk about cultures, music, research and discuss world history and affairs, eating, drinking, and trying something new. As for that last part, I'm going all-out nowadays, too.

I try enjoy life as much as I can, sitting down to taste the fine points of it and roll with the punches when it gets rough and not getting stressed out or irritated as I used to.

Change follows me daily and causes me to adjust to my life fluidly. I'm settling into the next step of my life. Another change, another move across the globe, more traveling to the four winds all seem to be part of my daily life.

My homeland is a collection of small towns outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as "Da Burgh" itself. Though the area annoyed me growing up, its become a symbol of work ethic and persistence to me.

Music is my obsession. I collect as much as I can, currently making an attempt at a complete discography of Mindless Self Indulgence.

I can't get enough of body art, either. Ten artists and seven years after my first ink, I'm still here, planning more.

Traveling is one of the best things that's fallen into my lap. In the past six years, I've been throughout Europe, Africa and some other places hardly on any maps. And I wouldn't trade the experiences of those trains, food, people, sites and weather for anything. No matter how good or bad they were.

If you really want to get to know me, shoot me a message.

Chances are, I'll want to get to know you, too.

Who I'd like to meet:

Declan de Barra. He's got a taste for creating beautiful, emotional works of art. He's best known for his work in Clann Zú. He's still involved with music and works in film and animation, too.

  • Aug 14 2009 4:50 PM

you're getting a new place? that's pretty cool. although i envy all the traveling and living wherever. Mike gets to stay in hotel rooms all over the country, and i'd love to go with him. he hates his job, though. i just haven't gotten out of the north-eastern United States, and i feel deprived. i miss you too, Erick. when you come back, HOPEFULLY i will be out of Youngwood at least. eeesshh. i can't stand this place. BUT you must come see us. that's an order. as if you don't get that enough. heh. <3

  • Jul 5 2009 7:22 AM

oh, it's okay. i know you have a lot of people to see and things to do when you visit home. i hear you're in italy? golly, i envy you. i hope i get to travel the world some day. hell, i'd be happy to see a just a few more states. go a little further west than ohio. a little further south than virginia. it will happen with positive thinking, mike tells me. i'm as patient as i can be. i think i need to stop looking so far into the future. it just makes me anxious. heh... but i'll still be in the pittsburgh area when you come back around, no doubt. our paths will cross again. you remain in my thoughts, and my heart.
