Josh Spall and Ramon Volz, two incredibly talented and entertaining musicians, combine their musical powers to form the supergroup "The 1947 California Cupcake Company". By marrying Josh's sweet yet intense vocals with Ramon's subtly beautiful harmonies they achieve a vocal quality unmatched by most bands of any stature. Joining those great vocals with Ramon's decadent acoustic guitar licks brings a sound so complete you'd almost be sure you were watching a five piece band.
The Cupcake Company has been together playing music for almost a decade. They began in December of 1997 as the vocalist (Josh) and bassist (Ramon) in a speed metal band known as Destiny By Choice. After DBC broke up, the two friends struck out on their own crafting a unique sound which blends early Simon & Garfunkel with Tenacious D. They began playing shows in parking lots in the back of Ramon's truck, then moved on to more "official" venues like Matter Park in Marion and MCPalooza in North Manchester. In the past year, the star has really begun to rise for these talented musicians, netting them gigs at Birdy's and The Music Mill in Indianapolis, Beatnik's in Marion, and Higher Grounds, Jam Crib, Seeker's, Legend's, and Mid-City Grill in Fort Wayne. Most recently, they opened for Herman's Hermits and 1964 at Fort Wayne's Three Rivers Festival.
