The Two Dollar Bills play spirited old-time fiddle tunes, sing earthy bluegrass songs, and generally have a good time.
As odd and unnecessary as a two dollar bill, multi-instrumentalists Alex Caton (Las Gitanas), Joey Damiano (The Red Hot Chilly Pickers), and Peter Markush (The Marzaks, The Falsies) -- affectionately known as the skirt, the rock, and the wild man -- serve up onstage instrument acrobatics, stellar musicianship, and timeless vocals.
Like sweet Kentucky bourbon, Alex intoxicates with knock-your-trousers-off fiddle playing and sultry vocals -- but don't overlook her clear-headed guitar and bass playing.
As adept and compelling as a sword swallower, Peter effortlessly moves with equal finesse from cello to fiddle to bass to guitar and back again.
Joey lays down solid, driving rhythm on bass and guitar, and pours out vocals as pure as mountain dew.
All three are performers and teachers who have significantly contributed to the vibrant Charlottesville, Virginia traditional/acoustic music scene for many years, and recently decided to join forces to play the Southern Appalachian old-time music that is near and dear to their hearts.

How do we rock thee? Let us count the ways.
We rock thee to the depth and breadth and height
our souls can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
We rock thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
We rock thee freely, as men strive for Right;
We rock thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
We rock thee with a passion put to use
In our old griefs, and with our childhoods' faith.
We rock thee with a beat we seemed to lose
With our lost picks, --- we rock thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all our lives! --- and, if God choose,
We shall but rock thee better after death.
