Sounds Like
Hip hop with instruments. Instrumentals that are in the minor key. Vocalists from Missouri.
The 40 Thieves started as a musical experiment with Adam Speer and Matt Range on drums and bass, playing poetry slams and hip hop battles around Columbia, MO in 2004. Adding CJ Banks on keyboards, T40T recorded a demo on a 4 track cassette recorder and began an idea to create a collective of like-minded musicians and MC's. So T40T started to build a relationship with local MC's and a reputation for bringing a live music element to Midwest hip hop. CJ bowed out in 2005 and that brought in Chris Blose on keys; a seasoned musician who learned the songs effortlessly and immediately became a crucial element to the song writing process.
By 2005 T40T were embraced by the Columbia music community and promoters, opening for major label acts such as: Ozomatli and Blackalicious. Also, they were put on the same bills as underground acts such as: One Be Lo, Hanger 18 and Fat Lip (of the Pharcyde).
Around this time T40T began to form working relationships with Missouri MC's JG, Mr. Tivis, Steddy P, Sergio Slayer and Bustrip. They quickly branched out to St. Louis, collaborating with STL MC's Earthworms and members of Midwest Avengers and Royal ILLete. in 2006 T40T began recording their debut record "Grass is Greener". After recording many of the tracks on home computers, they signed with Columbia, MO's Home Tone Records. This gave them the opportunity to finish the recording at Mansion Studios, one of the top recording studios in Missouri. Now, in May 2007 Grass is Greener has been released. T40T plan to keep doing what they do best, writing music, performing and expanding their ever growing cast of collaborators.

Hi there The 40 Thieves first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are probably going to just close our myspace account.
Many people wanted to use us in the future so if you were one of those people make sure you bookmark www.tthlabel.com so that in the even that we do close our myspace account you will not lose contact with us. Thanks again for being our myspace pal!
