THE 54 SIDE SHOW (on www.radiohiphop.com) made its world wide debut back in 1999. The hiphop team of THE AVID RECORD COLLECTOR (formerly Dj Mugzy) and BORN TALENT had worked together in hiphop as a group since 1992, and decided that they wanted to do something that they both had strived to do, and something that was missing from the airwaves.....A REAL HIPHOP radio show!!
With the combination of The Avid's huge record collection, and Born Talents witty on air freestyles and commentary....THE 54 SIDE SHOW took off with the quickness. The 54 Side Show brought the hiphop world a combination of Underground/Independent hiphop, old school, originals, live guests, and live call ins, which let the up and coming artists get on the air LIVE and get their shine!!
Over the years, THE 54 SIDE SHOW has broadcasted many EXCLUSIVES, and impossible to find joints....while at the same time giving shine to artists that would later go on to make some noise in the industry. The show is also one of the few shows left in which VINYL is actually mixed by a live DJ, and listeners can get their requests (no matter how obscure and rare) to be played. Also, over the current 5 year run, THE 54 SIDE SHOW has built great relationships in the industry, as well as building a huge world wide listener base which includes new listeners each week, as well as the faithful 54 SIDE SHOW listers that have been there every week for years.
2009 looks to be another successful year for THE 54 SIDE SHOW and its listners, as THE AVID and BORN TALENT plan on continuing to spread the love and keep that REAL HIPHOP alive!!
