   About 7 Hertz
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

We started playing together in 2004, and we're making progress. So far we've recorded an 11-track album in a disused church in Leeds buy it at gigs or online from www.boomkat.com And a load of gigs of course. We've made it as far and as wide as Glasgow, Brighton and Bristol. We want to go all over the land. We also intend to go further. Like to sea.

We Improvise! That's what we do. We make tunes inside which to improvise, or just start from nothing. We also compose. We've got a wide variety of influences, because we're all from different musical backgrounds - contemporary classical, folk, jazz, free improv, punk and just plain odd - but we find mutual ground through listening to each other, and making it up as we go along.

Brainwash Compilation featuring us out now ... from Jumbo, Crash or Norman Records! brainwashposter You can listen to our live January Resonance FM session at http://www.dexterbentley.com/hellogoodbye.htm. We've done soundtracks to a couple of films, and are very eager to do more, so if you've made a film that needs music... Also, we love doing gigs. Ask us and we will come!

Non-myspacers can e-mail us on 7hertz@mail.com

We did a 9-date UK tour in October 06, and a 6-date collaborative tour with Rose Kemp in February 07. Thanks to all the people who put us on or came to see us. We're also collaborating with David Thomas Broughton, and have an album coming out in Spain, released by Acuarela.

Here's some reviews by people we don't know- on the Leeds Music Scene website and another one on Tasty Fanzine

We edited our profile wearing a hat.

..

More and More Tiger / Tiger Trap present:

Friday May 8th @ The Common Place, Leeds

THE BALKY MULE (FatCat Records)

Solo alias of Melbourne based multi-instrumentalist Sam Jones, previously found playing with Flying Saucer Attack, Minotaur Shock, Crescent and Third Eye Foundation. A brilliant mix of electronic and acoustic textures, plaintive vocals and eccentric British humour, The Balky Mule has garnered comparisons to people like Hood, Pram, Syd Barrett and FatCat labelmates Songs of Green Pheasant.

DOWNDIME

Frantic, moody indie pop in the vein of British Sea Power or Pavement.

http://www.myspace.com/downdime

MODEL WARSHIPS

Michael Waters makes beautiful songs wrenched out with an intensity and bitterness that belies his youth: think Xiu Xiu, Bright Eyes, Spencer Krug.

Entry £3 members / £4 non-members, doors 8pm. Tiger Trap will be DJing afterwards into the wee hours.
unpopular music

The increasingly mis-named Unpopular Music night returns in May with three Norwegian wailers including long-lost Leeds adoptee Ulrik Thorsrud...

...no large rare mammals have been/are being/will be harmed for this event, but if you stick around for a drink afterwards get your own insurance. I'll have a gun.
