The 8 Miles South Band is a union of 7 accomplished musicians with various musical heritages. Keyboard player Bill LeClair had a vision and brought these talented players together to do what they do best. You've seen him most recently with the Mauds, a soul/funk group. Bill also hails from a blues background, and has shared the stage with Buddy Guy,Elvin Bishop, Wayne Baker Brooks, and Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater to name a few. Rich Nelson-vocals and guitar and Dave Swanson is on vocals and percussion. Both of these musicians are from the White Saddle Band, playing country and classic rock. Rafael Mendez is the newest member of our band playing guitar and vocals, and has is own band, The Fabulous House Rockers,a staple on the Chicago Music scene for over a decade playing classic rock, blues and Killer originals. Dave Salzman on guitar and vocals musically always has something to say,is from The Tabasco Sound Kitchen, playing Blues and Soul. Bill Bowden on bass is the first call bass player on the Chicago scene, his feel, funk , and groove is second to no one. Rounding out the band is Gary Donnelly on drums, a seasoned veteren from the country circuit joining us from Crossfyre-a country/ rock group. The way Gary plays, you'd swear there were 2 drummers up there. When you look at who these players have shared the stage with, from Albert King and Paul Butterfield to The Allman Brothers, The Marshal Tucker Band, Delbert McClinton, Credence Clearwater, Steve Miller, Alabama, Travis Tritt, Asleep at the Wheel, Ricky Skaggs, just to name a few, it becomes increasing clear where their passions lie. At any time you may have seen one or all of these players at Buddy Guys Legends, The House of Blues, The Allstate Arena, or Ravinia if not at a festival or stage across the United States, Mexico, or Canada. There is something special that happens when these 7 spirits are playing together that you must experience for yourself. Ya gotta check 'em out! *********

Hey Billy, that's about it as rock stances go. The bodys gettin' back at me for all the sports I played when I young, dumb and full of cum. Tryin' to play through carpal tunnel and fibromyalgia. It's not fun but the show must go on. Carl told me you've been playin' with him lately. I'll have to get out to a show if we're not playin'. If you get a chance go to www.mercuryrisingband.net or link to our myspace and check out the 6 new tunes we just got done recording. Rocket
THANK YOU TO 8 MILES SOUTH for sky-rocketing our cancer benefit to a new level!! Playing for free to help the cause, this band totally cooked throughout their set - ending with an exhilirating version of Jessica. We highly recommend them!
Thanks for accepting my add request - I really appreciate this. Well you can read a bunch of reviews of my new CD release in my blog (I'm afraid there are only german reviews available up to now) - and of course you can listen to the songs on the profile. And only if you really, really like what you hear, you know the easiest way to get the CDs is directly from us! :-) I'd love to hear from you soon! -- Beat / BBTD
