Bio
"I found myself smiling for the whole set and when I turned around I noticed the whole audience doing exactly the same thing" – Richard Moffat ('Way Over There' & 'Incoming on RRRfm') "The ReChords…..a band to look out for" – Aunty Meredith (Meredith Music Festival, Victoria) "One our favorite Melbourne bands in recent times. Great musicians, great songs, great showmen. Its western swing, hillbilly, country - pure rock n roll. A refreshingly deep take on American roots rock usually occupied by forgettable haircut bands." - Woody McDonald (21st Meredith Music Festival - Festival Booker) Somehow this trio from the northern suburbs of Melbourne have been making themselves well known around town and now internationally since hitting the shores of Europe in 2011. What makes this act different or unique from many other bands performing in this style? ....we're not real sure but whatever it is, it's drawing crowds and gaining fans from all cross-sections of the music going public. Perhaps it's the passion behind the delivery of their music that has the most impact but add the solid rhythmic drive and the amazing dynamics between all the three members and you begin to see just why total 'non-believers' are being converted. The music itself is as diverse as you can get within the boundaries of it's 'Roots / Americana' heritage but yet pushing against those boundaries at various times. You can definitely hear elements of early Hillbilly, Bluegrass, Western Swing and at times it takes you down that early R&B path with some almost 'Doowop-like' harmonies and backing vocals whilst all the time keeping you excited and on edge to know just who will take the lead vocal on the next song. Yes, I'd even say there were hints of Alt-Country maybe with a 60's vibe and then they can turn around and go all-out 'Rock'n'Roll' and knock you flat to the ground……and all without a Drum Beat insight! The ReChords are winning fans not only in the underground 'retro music scene' across the country but a phenomenon is growing with audiences from the mainstream catching on to this 3 headed musical beast. The band have caught the eye of the booker for the well respected 'Meredith Music Festival' in Victoria sharing the stage with names like Nick Cave's Grinderman, Icehouse and Mudhoney in December 2011 and from that performance were invited along as a support to both Melbourne side shows for 'Justin Townes Earle' (USA) on his Bluesfest tour. On a mild Winter's day back in August 2009 it all began, about one year on from there and The ReChords released their debut album "ON THE WAGON" on a brand new local label, Bundoora Records containing 15 tunes, 9 original tracks and 6 obscure vintage covers from their combined musical collections. The following year, in 2011, they embarked on their very first international tour taking in 2 major 'Roots' festivals and 8 smaller sideshows through Germany, Belgium, The Nederlands and Spain, all self-funded and self-organized. Whist in Berlin, the band spent 3 days in Lightining Recording Studio laying down 10 more tracks all on Vintage Valve Equipment going straight to tape and from this session they will be releasing a Limited Edition 7" Vinyl around mid 2012. With momentum growing and a long list of shows under their Western belts plus the support & admiration from many of their musical peers like Abbie Cardwell, Mikeangelo, Clairy Browne & the Bangin' Rackettes, Little John, Wagons, etc. , The ReChords show no signs of slowing down….they're saddling up for a long ride ahead. ********TO BUY OUR CD********* For our overseas fans.., you can buy the album direct from CD Baby (see link below) or soon through your local RAB stockist in Europe/UK.
