The Book of Were-Wolves's Blurbs |
About me:

Written in 1865 by a British Theologian and Hymn-composer (he composed the well-known hymn "Onward Christian Soldiers"), this text delves into the history of beliefs and traditions surrounding human-animal transformations and related ideas.
Far from being a "factual document", "The Book of Were-wolves" is a look into the mystical and magical esoteric ideas and lore about man's "Inner Beast" that
were prevalent in the world of the late 1800s.
One can clearly see the basis for the myriad Hollywood Film-versions of the "Wolf-Man" in the details of folkloric poems and traditions.
The research compiled in Rev. Baring-Gould's text paints a unique picture of a mystical 19th-century world where monsters are very real and believed-in.
Luckily, the helpful hymn-composer turned literary Good Samaritan is there to guide you through this archaic and frightening world of wolf-men, vampires,
cannibals and murderers.
"The Book of Were-Wolves" is a must-read for anyone interested in human-animal transformations, folklore, or even just monster movies.
