the ceiling is a label, studio and general workspace established in 1999. Located over time in various spaces in southern Ontario, Canada, urban and rural, it is an umbrella for The Infant Cycle, and has also issued recordings from Antmanuv, ARC, Chronic Remorse, Jared Davison, Delphium, Dronaement, and Lens Cleaner Trio.
the ceiling is a flexible organization that thrives in flux, and shifts shape according to whatever project is currently being focused on. It is a place that allows us to concern ourselves with preserving and presenting those fleeting moments when imagination becomes sound- intangible but affecting us in the parts of the mind that are usually inactive, and allowing moments of bare recognition and release. And also an excuse to do whatever we want! Common sense be damned!

Up until early 2003, we ran an overactive mailorder featuring numerous artists and labels worldwide. After that point, the mailorder was pared down to our own releases, and those we had an active hand in, more or less due to general exhaustion.
