My father and mother (for being my biggest fans and supporters), Paul Griffiths (for leading me back to the Lord), Michael Moore (for his continuing encouragement & for remaining such an amazing musical and spiritual mentor to me), Jack Klose (my close friend and pastor), and Phil Moser (perhaps the godliest man I know).
I can't help but mention my best friend and brother, Jeff Van Valkenburg, and my real brother (and confidant) Richmond, both of whom have always supported me and inspired me to be myself.
So here I am: a man of double standards, just by typing these words. Many will attest that for years I've sworn off MySpace as a waste of time and brain cells. And of course, we all know that it is.
Yet here I sit, composing an unnecessarily long profile message that few will read and even fewer will find interesting. However, let the record stand that I still consider MySpace, Facebook, and any other self-promoting website utterly ridiculous, and I always will.
Alrighty, then. Mustn't keep the fans waiting. Allow me to share with you ten random facts about me that you may or may not have known. Drumroll, please...
#1: The full name is Justin William Carlton - William for my grandfathers (two of 'em) and Justin for nothing in particular.
#2: I'm lead singer and rythym guitarist for a great band called Seraphim (see my "friends").
#3: I'm a Christian and far from ashamed to admit it. I devote my life to worshipping Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior and desire to be more like Him in every way.
#4: My personal interests include - mainly - music (writing, playing, listening, etc), creative writing, cartooning, and illegally downloading songs to my already-exploding computer library of 2000+ tunes.
#5: I've got a decent GPA, I work at Pitman United Methodist Church as a custodian, and I'm currently attending GCC.
#6: I'm driving around a little white '96 Hyundai Accent with 150 thousand miles on her. It's pretty much a love/hate relationship.
#7: I'm not a huge sports freak, but I will love my Phillies and my Eagles to my dying day. THIS IS THE YEAR FOR BOTH OF 'EM, I tell ya...
#8: I have absolutely no tolerance for ignorance. I won't suffer pride or selfishness either - most likely because I struggle with them myself.
#9: I always want what I can't have, and most likely always will.
#10: I just might be one of those people you've really got to get used to to actually like.
That's pretty much me in a nutshell. If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to add it whenever I feel like wasting more of my life.
If you've got the time (which you obviously do, considering that you're reading all of this nonsense), check out some of the fictional stuff I've written. Copy and paste this link into your web browser: http://www.fictionpress.com/~kennysfriend. You can figure out the rest.
Thanks, all
Who I'd like to meet: A few inspiratory names come to mind...
For music: Bono & Edge from U2; Johnny Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls; Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament from Pearl Jam; Tom Morello - formerly of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave; Jared and Shannon Leto from 30 Seconds to Mars; Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds; Mark Tremonti, the genius behind Creed and Alter Bridge;
Chris Cornell, whose impressive history is too detailed to abbreviate here; and Eddie Van Halen to name a few.
For literature: Michael Stackpole, Stephani Danelle Perry, and Stephen King, all three of whom have been my favorite authors and - consequently - my biggest influences. I'm also a huge fan of the cartoonist Stephen Pastis [Pearls Before Swine], the man whose sense of humor remains unrivaled - in terms of brilliance and perversion.
Not big on movie stars - they can stay behind the silver screen.
If we include dead people, the list climbs to include Tolkein, Asimov, Shakespeare, Kennedy, Hendrix, Lennon, da Vinci, my grandfathers (none of whom I ever got a chance to meet), and Paul the Apostle.
I don't include Jesus Christ in this list only because I know for a certainty that I will meet him someday - face to face.
Seriously. It took me a while to realize why we were having fireworks. This year was pretty sad. You know, I think that if we were in school, we would have realized it.
Dude, seriously? Wow. I thought they had Golden Corral everywhere. Well, it's this big buffet restaurant. And that's it. It's grrrreat. :D Olive Garden is pretty good, too. I think it's safe to say that we have pretty good taste. ^_^
I guess, if you wanna look at it that way. But then again, if he comes good on his end of this bargain he's not aware that we have, I won't have to pay for another meal. :D
Summer has been pretty good. Too hot for my tastes, and lugging around about 20 pounds more than I have in years (I used to be a fat kid) isn't very fun, but oh well. It'll be over before I know it. :D
