In 2006 I finished my first solo Edinburgh Fringe show. The theme - it's Edinburgh you have to have a theme, for some reason the theme of being funny for an hour doesn't go over with the critics - was the Butterfly Effect. Some people were familiar with this idea some weren't, only one random nutter came in part way and started throwing his wet underpants around - which for a show based on Chaos Theory fit in quite nicely I thought. It got some good press a 4 star review on chortle (didn't I say you needed a theme), a 3 star from Kate Copstick the festival's most feared critic who described me as "funny, fascinating and engaging". All in all not a bad way to spend August.
Since then I was commissioned by the lovely people at the BBC Comedy Unit in Manchester to make a radio pilot based on a section of the show. I wrote it with assistance of Mr. Carlos Cooper who co-wrote two Sony Award winning shows The Ape That Got Luckyand Chris Addison's Civilization.
The Butterfly Effect Pilot was recorded on 16th April 2007 and starred the fantastic Jo Enright, James Quinn, me and some bloke called Dave Turquoise. The producer was Paul Hardy and he was assisted by the lovely Sally Harrison.
In 2007 I was back at the fringe in my own solo show "One Man Defective Story" which Karen Dunbar described as unmissable. Sadly a lot of people did miss it.
In 2008 I'm back in the Great Big Comedy Picnic.
In the meantime I've been involved in a number of writing projects including adverts and a film script.
