About me: The central valley's longest running open mic, (7 years) the Inner Ear Poetry Jam is a live open mic venue showcasing Central California valley artists in spokenword, art, music and performance.
Located in downtown Fresno California's historic China Town, at Full Circle Brewing Co. The once a month (every third Thursday) jam features live music by local bands along with the show's own mix master DJ Smack Jilly. Plus live art in a total art atmosphere like no other venue of it's kind. Co-host Scurvy and Creator/Host S. Bryan Medina keep things moving with special guest artists and their own original works in this three hour event.
No matter if your an old hand or a first timer at the mic, all performers are encouraged and welcomed!

Just over two years ago during its 5yr anniversary, the INNER EAR showed a onetime short film retrospective it produced with the help of friends to highlight some of the special moments poets and artists have shared on the Ear’s stage as well as give an inside look at the people who helped put it together month after month during that time period. On this look back, I want to say a sincere “Thank You” to all the open mic and featured artists for sharing their various crafts. Thanks also goes out to Timmy Bryant and his exceptional film staff of Joel “Juice” Dominie & Dan Ross who put their time, love and artistic flair into the short. Not to mention a BIG shout out to Jay (Kilroy) McElroy for use of some of his original footage shot during the two year anniversary at the old Kern St. Coffee House in down town Fresno '02. Last, but not least, a big bundle of love goes out to Joe Osejo for rending the footage. Check it out…Maybe you were there among the crowds, and maybe…just maybe, you were a part of the magic that was captured over the first five years.

21 & Over
Do to forces beyond our control both Food For Thought & The Beat Down Slam poetry events are no longer at Smokehouse Restaurant & Bar due to its unforeseeable future of staying open. Rest assured, we are looking into
other venues downtown as well as the Tower District to hold our events at. Thanks to both poets and dedicated audience who have come out to both shows over the 7 months we were there. Currently we're talking to 3 different spaces for possible venues. wish us luck! as soon as we find something, that will be fair to both parties, we'll put out the word.
