Interests

  • General

Animals, geography, foreign culture, animation, music, butterflies, blood, dark fantasy worlds (not the unicorn-rainbow-happy-fairy-tale variety), Victorian-styled things (generally), trees, greenery...
  • Music

I like most any type of music, except rap. Alternative, punk, country, soundtracks...I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to music.
  • Movies

Do people even read these long lists? I like random movies here and there, but most don't impress me all that much. Notable exceptions include anything by Tim Burton, Watership Down, Dogma, The Matrix, Independence Day.
  • Television

Bleh on TV. If I watch it, it tends to be nature/scientific shows or animal shows.
  • Books

John Saul constantly keeps me entertained, His Dark Materials series, Ender's Game series, Watership Down, Hitchhiker's Guide series, The Guardian, Harry Potter series, Stephen King books, JtHM, other random stuff. Nonfiction especially, as I like to learn about the world even if I don't particularly care for it.
  • Heroes

I respect people who do what's right 99% of the time, with just a bit of freedom for error. Yes, I'm a stickler for rules and following them. As for any specific people that I consider a hero? No. I don't think I've ever met a person that hasn't let me down in one way or another. But, of course, I am easily disappointed, especially if someone exhibits signs of being one of the sheep.. which is only human nature.

About me:

I'm a cynical, fairly smart workaholic who doesn't like most other people for a variety of reasons (although I can get along with them rather well as evidenced by my knack for customer service, i.e. the facade one needs to survive in this society). I get more enjoyment from thinking about things rather than doing things. I love animals, vampires, the idea of the death and destruction of the human race, and the idea that I belong elsewhere, beyond this society in which I'm forced to live.

In my spare time I work, work, and work. Oh, I also take my daughter, River-er, I mean, my dog, to the dog park.

My dream is to move away from this place and live somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Where it is green, always cloudy, wet, and full of trees. But unless someone gives me a lot of money to pay off mortgage and other debt, that isn't going to happen in my lifetime.

I also like interesting quotes.

"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." (Thomas Jefferson)

"It is my personal belief that when the last human has fallen, and the last skull lies on the irradiated earth, a coyote will come trotting out of some safe place. Don't ask me where he'll come from; but I believe that he will survive as he has always survived. The coyote will trot in his furtive, skulking manner, to the skull. He will approach it carefully with the caution borne of millenia of avoiding steel traps and snares and pitfall. He will cautiously sniff it. His educated nose will tell him that he no longer has anything to fear from the bleached remnant of a once great civilization. Taking a few short steps to get in the exact position, he will lift his leg." (Charles L. Cadieux)

I also think you should watch this video, as it is very, very important.

Who I'd like to meet:

I don't really want to meet anyone. But if I have a choice, I'd prefer to meet non-stereotypical people, and/or non-materialistic people.

I'm also looking for an old friend of mine named Crystal. If you know of her whereabouts I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know.
