About me:

THANKS, ASHEVILLE!
"THE REBELLES REVIVAL: NOTHING IS SACRED" was voted BEST LOCALLY PRODUCED PLAY IN 2006!

Double O Sexy is launched into absolute bliss during the Rebelles Revival!

Another Scene from the Revival!

THE REBELLES BURLESQUE! Online at therebelles.com
Who are The Rebelles? Guerilla theatre, a women’s collective, burlesque performance art, a cabaret comedy extravaganza. The Rebelles tap into all of the above in their all-original, multi-media, live-music performances. Taking the traditional conception of burlesque as social commentary with a comedic twist and using it to tease-and-free the audience, the Rebelles aim to lift spirits and lower inhibitions.

On July 4 weekend 2003, The Rebelles debuted the first original production Through Sick and Sin to sold out crowds in Asheville, NC. The premier show introduced audiences to the world of the Rebelles, elite members of the G- Spot Liberation Army. Their leader, affectionately known as “the G,” author of the manifesto, The Truth is in Here, is thought to be hiding in a moist cave in the American South. Notorious Rebelles leader, Frau Lippenstift, also a wanted woman, is the undercover den mother, and the G’s right hand woman. She helps keep the troop’s morale and chests lifted high in their secret underground cabaret club. The Rebelles are on a mission to free the G and protect the manifesto The Truth is in HERE. While waiting for transmissions from the G, the girls know that the show must go on. Fans, Balloons, Parasols, Screen Dances, Strip Tease, these shows promise to be sexy, smart, and always funny.

In October of 2003, I Know What You Did Last Slumber Party, brought deadly hilarity as Simi Rocket hosts a slumber party that gets rudely interrupted by things that go bump in the night. We learn that all the rebelles have skeletons in their closet…dirty little secrets. It’s an all-inclusive show where everyone gets to die. A tribute to B cinema, Halloween rituals and rock and roll. A classic Halloween favorite! Trick or Treat? You decide.

On the eve of 2004, The Rebelles helped their ingénue Betty Cocker understand what it means to be an American in The Education of Betty Cocker. Frau Lippenstift gives Betty a lesson in voting and leads her down a path she never expected. Sometimes you can’t just lie on your back; you’ve got to take matters into your own hands. Betty learns to be an active, able participant in her community whether through money, politics, or even sex.

In July of 2004, on the anniversary of their first performance, The Rebelles continued the saga of the G-Spot Liberation Army and “the G” with A More Perfect Union. The Rebelles receive a transmission from “ the G” directing them to liberate lady Justice from her captors and prepare for the oncoming war. So the Rebelles retreat to Booty Camp for their “drillings.” Dissenters, deserters, dancing cupcakes, bumping, grinding, winking, blowing and more. Simi Rocket goes AWOL, (absent without lingere) and out there in the jungle realizes that in order to form A More Perfect Union they must first come together.

In October of 2004 the Rebelles brought I Know What You Did Last Slumber Party II back from the grave for their first show at Asheville Community Theatre. This marked the transition from a small black box theatre to a large-scale stage by sheer demand of their fans.

Debuting in August 2006, the Rebelles 5th original production, The Rebelles Revival: Nothing is Sacred, completes the trilogy of the Rebelles and the G. Double Oh Sexy starts having visions during her “private time” inspring her to spead the word of the “G” across the land. The G spot liberation army embarks on a revolutionary revival tour spreading the gospel of the G and performing “good deeds”. G.O.D.TV evangelists Jim Half Baker and Tammy Fayker doubt the Rebelles’ good deeds and are determined to expose them as a cult. Double Oh’s visions are earthshaking. It’s the “O” felt all over the world. In the end, in our deepest darkest moments we all need something in common to believe in- the highest pursuit, the pursuit of pleasure. This show will certainly leave you contemplating more than your navel. The house band the Phermones join the Rebelles in this muliti-media feel good extravaganza of the summer.
