It is said that they are to be primarily from the constellation of Alpha-Draconis.
The Reptilian humanoids are a common scene in mythology, folklore, science fiction, ufology, and the conspiracy theories of those such as David Icke. They are basically said to be beings that evolved off planet and on Earth parallel to mankind. Research shows a link to Reptiles and humans via the remains of ancient human civilizations. The Reptiles are known by many names, including Reptoids, draconians, Saurians or Snake People. Reptilian humanoids have been common in the myths, legends and within the artistic endeavors of many human cultures throughout history. There are many myths claiming that reptilians have slept with multiple European political leaders. "The Gods who came from the heavens and mated with the sons and daughters of Earth". Cecrops I, the first mythical King of Athens was half man, half snake. In mythology, the Titans and Gigantes were winged-man princes with serpents as their retainers. This is illustrated, for example, on a frieze on the Pergamon Altar in Pergamum. In these images from Pergamum, some of which depict gigantomachy, one sees the giant Klyteros with huge serpents between his legs. Boreas (Aquilon to the Romans) was the Greek god of the cold north wind, described by Pausanias as a winged man with serpents between his legs. In Indian scriptures and legends, the Naga (Devanagari) are reptilian beings said to live underground and interact with human beings on the surface. In some versions, these beings were said to have once lived on a continent in the Indian Ocean that sank beneath the waves. Indian texts also refer to a reptilian race called the "Sarpa" (Devanagari). The Syrictæ (Greek: Skiritai; Latin: Sciritae) of India were a tribe of men with snake-like nostrils in place of noses and bandy serpentine legs. The Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese speak throughout their history of Lóng (Yong in Korean, Ryu in Japanese) or dragons, conceived of in both physical and non-physical forms, but rarely depicted in humanoid form, though they may assume a non-reptilian human form. In China, Korea and Japan, underwater realms are referred to where the Dragon Kings and their descendants live, as well as a lineage of humans descended from a race of dragons. This lineage was often claimed by East Asian emperors, who were believed to be able to change from human to dragon form at will (the dragon is seen as good rather than evil in Eastern tradition). In the Middle East, reptilian beings ranging from certain Jinn to dragons and serpent-men have been spoken of since ancient times. In one of the apocryphal books falsely purporting to be the lost Book of Jasher, a serpent race is described. In the Book of Genesis, God punishes the serpent for deceiving Eve into eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil by decreeing, "Upon thy belly thou shalt go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of your life" (Genesis 3:14 KJV). Traditionally, many have felt this implied that the serpent (a snake or reptile) had legs before then. Thus It is therefore often portrayed in Western art as a humanoid (woman) with a snake's tail, and sometimes lizard-like feet, as in a detail from Bosch's Last Judgement. Even in modern times, some claim to have encountered reptilian humanoids. In many of these cases, a UFO is part of the encounter as well as military looking humanoid personel. There are many conspiracy theories involving reptilian extraterrestrials, or terrestrials of reptilian lineage. Many posit that the so-called Greys are in fact reptiles, and should be categorized as "Reptoids", others that Reptoids are an entirely different species working with or in opposition to the Greys. Some conspiracy thinkers have also claimed that they are capable of shape-shifting. According to David Icke, reptilian humanoids are the force behind a worldwide conspiracy directed at manipulation and control of humanity. He reveals that most of the world's leaders, from Bill Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton and George W. Bush to members of the British Royal Family, are in fact related to the 7-foot tall, blood-drinking reptilians from the star system Alpha Draconis.
According to an interview with David Icke, Christine Fitzgerald claims that she was a confidante of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and that Diana told her that the Royal Family were reptilian aliens, and that they could shapeshift. David Icke and others have claimed that U.S. President George W. Bush and his family are part of this same bloodline.
Icke claims, based on his exploration of genealogical connections to European royalty, that many presidents of the United States have been, or are connected to, reptilian humanoids. In his view, United States foreign policy after September 11 is the product of a reptilian conspiracy to enslave humanity, with George W. Bush as a servant of the reptilians.
He also theorizes that the reptilians came to Earth from the constellation Alha Draco, as opposed to John Rhodes, of the Reptoids Research Center, who reports that the majority of reptilians appear to be of Earth origin and that they may have outposts in various planetary systems and/or dimensions. The Reptilians are also said to be the shadowy overlord puppet masters behind the reasonings of the NEW WORLD ORDER.
The New World Order is a conspiracy that refers to a plan in which a powerful and secretive group, most often referred to as the Illuminati, is conspiring to eventually rule the world via an autonomous world government, which would replace sovereign states and other checks and balances in world power struggles. In the new world order, many significant occurrences are caused by a powerful secret group. Historical and current events are seen as steps in an on-going plot to rule the world primarily through a combination of political finance, social engineering, mind control, and fear-based propaganda.
New world order is an integrative that attempts to expose and explain a widespread collusion between business and political leaders and their agenda towards the restriction of personal freedoms. It is believed the idea of the "new world order" originated in the early 1900s with Cecil Rhodes, who advocated that the British Empire and the United States should jointly impose a Federal World Government (with English as the official language) to bring about lasting world "peace". In order to facilitate this, Rhodes founded the Rhodes Scholarship as a global brotherhood of future leaders. Lionel Curtis, who also believed in this idea, founded the Rhodes-Milner Round Table Groups in 1909, which led to the establishment of the British-based Royal Institute for International Affairs in 1919 and the U.S.-based Council on Foreign Relations in 1920. The concept was further developed by Edward M. House, a close advisor to Woodrow Wilson during the negotiations to set up the League of Nations. Another important influence was the futurist H.G. Wells, a vigorous advocate for world government. One official mention which has garnered attention was in Gerald Ford's "Declaration of Interdependence" on October 24th, 1975; according to the ex-general counsel of the Export-Import Bank of the United States Peter Beter, the Declaration of Interdependence states that: "we must join with others to bring forth a new world order....Narrow notions of national sovereignty must not be permitted to curtail that obligation". Elements are present in the populism of the nineteenth century. In present form this can be traced to the collapse of the Soviet Union and President George H. W. Bush's new world order speech of 11 September 1990. In it he described the United States' objectives for post-cold-war cooperation with the former Soviet Union, using the phrase "new world order."
According to theorists, such as David Icke (The Biggest Secret, 1998), there are many signs that will confirm these claims. For example, the strange murals in the Denver International Airport, the Illuminati symbol on the Great Seal of the United States with the words "Novus Ordo Seclorum" meaning "New Secular Order" or "New Order Of The Ages", Masonic signs on buildings (particularly in Washington DC) and pentagrams worked into city plans.
In Mathematics, the universal symbol that represents change, the triangle, is shown; In the Great Seal of the United States the eye completes the triangle inferring change. A DVD entitled "Riddles In Stone" investigates the peculiarities in Washington, D.C.'s streets and buildings.
Reverse side of the Great Seal of the United StatesThe belief may stem — at least partly — from the political phrase "New World Order", which was used in politics for much of the 20th century. Supporters of this reality can say to a certain degree who is part of it. Most prominent families such as the Rothschilds, the Rockefellers, the Bush Family, the Morgans, Warburgs and Du Ponts, as well as European monarchs, are said to be important members.
International organizations such as the World Bank, IMF, European Union, the United Nations, and NATO are often listed as core NWO organizations. Presidents and prime ministers of nations are routinely included in the conspiracy. A slightly different version of the NWO theory goes as far as saying that these families and persons are all part of the same 13 bloodlines. Blood lines that can be traced back to the times when the gods (reptilians)came from the heavens and mated with the sons and daughters of earth.
The perennial U.S. presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche claims that the "New World Order" is a conspiracy directed by the House of Windsor (the British royal family), which, he asserts, also controls the international Illegal drug trade. He claims the Fabian Society (of which H.G. Wells was a member) was secretly financed by the Royal Family so that the Windsors could gain control of the eventual world government. LaRouche asserts that as of 2006 the Neo-Conservatives (especially Dick Cheney) are working with the House of Windsor to set up a type of fascism throughout the world which LaRouche calls synarchism and which, he claims, the Neo-Conservatives hope will become the basis of the New World Order. US President George W Bush and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair are thought to have initiated NWO.
Paleoconservative Patrick J. Buchanan asserts the Council on Foreign Relations (itself alleged to be a front for international bankers, as well as, it is claimed, the inspiration for the founding of the Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commission, and World Trade Organization) is behind the conspiracy. He claims that the international banking interests are planning to eventually subvert the independence of the United States of America by subordinating national sovereignty to the United Nations. This thesis agrees with the right-wing libertarian opinion who sees a future socialist World State as the only way to achieve an Orwellian collectivist oligarchy freed from the need to subordinate the world's production to the consumers of a free market economy. The conspiracy would replace it with a monopolist planned economy capable of rationing the resources, converting populations into public property. Their usual image is an egalitarian slavery under a global scientific dictatorship.
"For more than a century ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents ... to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it."

The Council of Foreign Relations Theory is the latest version of the view that the Anglo-American Establishment conspired from 1900 on to gain world domination. The research findings of historian Carroll Quigley, an expert on the Establishment, were taken by right-wing writers to substantiate this view, even though he denied that the Establishment was a conspiracy seeking world domination.
Some fundamentalist evangelical Christian ideologies about the conspiracy include a prominent religious element based on prophecies in the Book of Revelation about the coming of the Anti-Christ. They assert that agents of Satan are involved in deceiving humanity into accepting an international demonic (Reptilian)order that has Satan at the core of worship. These beliefs often include explicit millenarianism. Other ideologies do not have a religious component, and view the concept of "serving Satan" metaphorically. Compare Pat Robertson's The New World Order to William Cooper's book "Behold a Pale Horse". The fundamentalist evangelical Christian view regarding the expected events leading to the implementation of the New World Order and the emergence of the Anti-Christ as well as the subsequent Battle of Armageddon and Second Coming is exhaustively summarized in the 1998 book Final Warning: The History of the New World Order by David Allen Rivera.
Some claim that there is a conspiracy or organization of intellectuals, technologists, technocrats, intelligentsia, technophiles, or other such intellectual elites and leaders who view digital technology as a god in and of itself and push a pro-Technocracy, pro-Scientism agenda. Generally, this theory maintains a nexus to capitalism, materialism, transnational corporations, and based on behaviours of groups like Big four record labels, Supermajor, Trusted Computing Group, and advancement of technology like Spychips. The theory goes if technology is profitable and humans are subjectively guided by technological communications; accordingly, it is possible to sustain a peaceful and global consumer society. Anti-psychiatry sometimes plays a role in such theories, as it is claimed that the fields of psychology and psychiatry are for the purposes of medicating the individualist instincts of people and creating a conformant "therapeutic society."
Although the United Nations is a central figure in some theories, conspiracy theory in the twenty-first century allows for the addition of many ideas that in the past might have been thought mutually exclusive. Extra-terrestrials (either the "Reptilians" or the "Greys" or both), the Trilateral Commission, the Illuminati, and other groups may be included in the conspiracy, in more or less dominant roles, as in the conspiracy theory put forward by David Icke. Some theorists say a secret annual conference of the Bilderberg Group plans world events to establish the New World Order. New World Order conspiracy theory may be presented by any who fear the loss of their ideological freedom and favorite policies, conservatives and liberals alike. A number of those on both the right and left believe that the left/right paradigm itself is a subversive creation of a New World Order-controlled media, intended as disinformation to divert people from their common enemy. This has been called "Fusion Paranoia" by Michael Kelly.
One theory is that the New World Order is being implemented gradually, citing the foundation of the Federal Reserve bank; American Imperialism and economic Colonialism, the formation of the United Nations; the formation of the World Health Organization, the World Bank and the World Trade Organization; the formation of the European Union and the Euro currency; the formations of the North American Union and the Amero currency, the Middle East Free Trade Area, the African Union, and the various Middle East peace processes as major milestones. The understanding of some believers is that the New World Order will be created by a military coup, using UN and possibly American troops, against all the nations of the world to bring about a singular world government. Before 2000, some conspiracists believed this process would be set in motion by the predicted Y2K computer crisis causing widespread social disorder. Black helicopters are part of some conspiracy theory thinking, especially among the US militia movement, that claims that special unmarked "black" helicopters are being used now in secret military operations and are going to be used by secret agents of the New World Order to implement their plans. Another related set of believers maintains that the United States is to be taken over, by troops nominally loyal to the United Nations but in fact controlled by a trans-national group (sometimes referred to as Faction One). The takeover is to include the detention of 'patriots' and those hostile to the conspiracy in secret internment camps in remote parts of the country, to which elements of the population will be taken for processing before being released as "work-units." Other components of the conspiracy include the dispersal of chemicals into the atmosphere via aircraft in the Chemtrail theory, the CIA mind control experiments performed under the code name MK-ULTRA, and involvement by extraterrestrial aliens, as in the Dulce Base conspiracy theories.
Some Theorists from the Christian community believe that the New World Order is the rulership of Earth by the Anti-Christ, and identify the coming of Satan's reign with mark of the beast (666) mentioned specifically in the Book of Revelation (see Revelation 13:16). Because the Mark of the Beast is linked to the act of "buying and selling", this mark has been at various times considered identical with the collection of sales tax, the use of Social Security card numbers, and the bar-coding of retail goods with UPC (Universal Product Code) markings. Current theorists have implicated RFID tagging as well. Katherine Albrecht and Liz McIntyre, authors of Spychips: How Major Corporations and Government Plan to Track Your Every Move with RFID, wrote a new book on the subject.
The conspirators thought to be responsible for the new world order are also suspected of staging many historical events such as World Wars and terrorist attacks. New world order theorists say that world leaders throughout history have successfully manipulated their people into wars using false flag operations. To support these assertions they cite what they consider to be previous examples of such manipulations:
The Nazis capitalized on the Reichstag fire by blaming the Communists for it, thus eliminating support for the Communist party in Germany, and leading to Nazi domination of the legislature.
The use of the Patriot Act in the United States (9/11)
The state of emergency in Indira Gandhi's rule of India after convicted of election fraud
The United States knew in advance of the attacks on Pearl Harbor, and President Roosevelt used the attacks as a "legitimate" reason for entering World War II.
Operation Northwoods, a proposed series of false flag operations to be used as a pretext for an invasion of Cuba, was signed off by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but rejected by President Kennedy shortly before his assassination.
The Gulf of Tonkin Incident led President Johnson to escalate U.S. hostilities in Vietnam
The Federal Reserve Act, designed to regulate bankers, was written on a private island off the coast of Georgia in 1910 by bankers representing the JP Morgan, Rockefeller, and Rothschild interests. This allegedly gave the top international bankers the power to control and manipulate the United States economy.
The United States government knew in advance of the attacks on the World Trade Center and The Pentagon (9/11), the Bush administration created the attacks as a "legitimate" reason to enter Afghanistan, and later Iraq. It is also thought that the US may use similar reasoning to invade Iran, Lebanon and other countries in the Middle East as a foothold for the new world order.
Other new world order theorists see the conspiracy at work in globalization, or in the various intellectual movements evolved from Marxism, ranging from social democracy to the Frankfurt School. These are thought to be intended to homogenize cultures and values by political normalization, as in the European Union and African Union's gradual "communitarian construction" scheme of a common economic and legal framework.
Literature promoting such conspiracies often contain or presuppose a rich mythology of occurrences including the following examples of potential fundamental changes, typically with a USA-bias:
"Black helicopters", militias organized from a combination of UN troops, paramilitary police forces and the National Guard; the imposition of martial law; FEMA operated dissident camps.
National and local elections monitored by the UN, with an implication of election rigging.
The UN assuming the sovereignty and responsibilities of the US government.
Foreign military troops on US soil for alleged "peacekeeping" or "humanitarian" missions.
The US constitution replaced by the UN Charter (requiring a redrafting of the charter, since the current form is not sufficiently robust, nor intended, to serve as a document of national basic law).
UN control of a unified, global economy - Often correlated with Globalization.
All cash money eliminated; currency or "credit" exchanges made using microchips, implanted or otherwise; See Smart card, VeriChip, the more recent Real ID Act. Often correlated with the Biblical book of Revelation 13:16-17:

Another subject I resonate with is an ET race commonly called the GRAYS. It is said that a mjority of the grays hail from Zeta Reticuli, a binary star system located about 39 light years away from Earth. It is located in the constellation Reticulum, and is visible to the unaided eye under very dark skies. Because of the southerly location of the system, it is not visible north of the tropics. In ufology, Grays, also known as Roswell aliens, Zetas, and Reticulians, are aliens or extraterrestrial life forms that appear in purported modern day encounters and other UFO-related paranormal phenomena. Said to be one of several species of aliens, grays make up approximately 75 percent of all aliens reported in the United States.
Typically, Grays are described as being either approximately four feet tall or over six feet tall, with gray (sometimes blue-gray/green-gray) skin. Their body is typically described as being elongated, and lacking in muscular definition. Their legs are shorter and jointed differently than one would expect in a human, giving them an apparently awkward stance. Their arms often reach down to their knees, and some accounts give them three digits, or three digits and a thumb on each hand. They have a bulbous, hairless head supported by a thin neck, which is dominated by large, (usually black) lidless eyes. They typically have small flat noses, small mouths and small ears or in some cases just a hole for the ears. In some cases, Grays are said to have slit-like nostrils on a flat face. Some accounts have Grays wearing tight neutral colored uniform-like jumpsuits. Other reports have them appearing to be naked. In most cases, clothed Grays have no determinable gender and naked Grays have no visible external genitals. Until the 1960s, the image of the Grey primarily existed in popular fiction, but this began to change in 1965 when the Boston Traveler published the purportedly true story of abductees Betty and Barney Hill. The story included details from a hypnosis session, conducted a year earlier by Dr. Benjamin Simon, in which the Hills described being taken aboard a pancake-like craft by small hairless men with no noses and slanted eyes that wrapped around to the sides of their heads. In 1968, Grays became associated with the Zeta Reticuli system, after amateur astronomer Marjorie Fish compared a Star Map drawn by Betty Hill to astronomical charts, and determined that the twelve stars depicted on the map showed the aliens' home to be a planet in the Zeta Reticuli system, situated approximately 39 light years from Earth. This led to Grays sometimes being referred to as 'Zetas' or 'Reticulians' in popular culture. In 1977, Director Steven Spielberg chose Grays as the alien protagonist for his film Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The Grays have since become the archetypal image of an alien for many UFO investigators and the general public. Its also been said that the CIA and or NWO worked with Steven Spielberg on the movie ET as to make the general public aware of the alien presence so as when the Government eventually reveals what fractions of what it had known for quite some time about the alien presence, the blow to our social environment would'nt be such a shock. UFO researcher Leonard H. Stringfield began to take the stories of crashed flying saucers, retrieved alien bodies, and autopsies on the bodies seriously. From a variety of sources, he built up a composite of the retrieved bodies, which seem to be that of the classic Grays. Stringfield presented his preliminary results at a MUFON symposium in 1978. In 1980, Stringfield presented a second document to MUFON in which he presented a series of anatomical diagrams which he stated that he obtained from medical personnel who claim to have performed autopsies on alien corpses during the 1950s. His report included a number of characteristics that can be found in many contemporary Grey reports and in theatrical reproductions. Overall humanoid appearance. Bodies usually described as "formed out of a mold" with identical facial characteristics.
Height of 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 feet with a weight of approximately 40 pounds. Two round eyes without pupils with heavy brow ridge. Eyes described variously as large, almond-shaped, elongated, sunken/deep set, far apart, slightly slanted, appearing "Oriental" or "Mongoloid."
The head was large by human standards for the size of the body. It is often described as "pear-shaped." X-ray revealed a human-like mandible, maxilla, and other cranial bone structure. No ear lobes or protruding flesh beyond holes on each side of head.
Vague nose, two holes with only a slight protuberance.
Mouth a small "slit" without lips, opening into a small cavity. Mouth appears not to function for communication or food ingestion. There is only a hint of a tongue. There are no teeth. There is a membrane at the back of the mouth separating it from what would be the digestive tract. However, there is no digestive system or GI tract.
Neck is thin, sometimes not visible because of garments.
Head generally described as hairless, sometimes a slight fuzz. Bodies are hairless
Torso is small and thin. In most instances, the body was observed wearing a metallic but flexible garment.
Arms are described as long, thin, and reaching down to the knee section. The legs are short and thin.
Hand is generally described with four fingers and no thumb with slight webbing between fingers. Two fingers appear longer than the others. Sometimes fingernails are reported.
Skin variously reported as beige, tan, brown, tannish or pinkish or bluish gray. Texture is scaly or reptilian, elastic and mobile over smooth muscle or skeletal tissue. No striated muscle.
There are either no reproductive organs or atrophied reproductive organs. It is also said that the Grays absorb nutrients through their skin. During the early 1980s Grays were linked to the alleged crash landing of a flying saucer in Roswell New Mexico, in 1947, by a number of publications which contained statements from witnesses who claimed to have seen the US military handling a number of unusually proportioned, bald, child-sized corpses. The witnesses claimed that the corpses had over-sized heads and slanted eyes - but scant other facial features - during and after the incident. In 1987 popular novelist Whitley Strieber published the book Communion, in which he describes a number of close encounters he purports to have experienced with Grays and other extraterrestrial beings. The book became a New York Times bestseller.
During the 1990s, popular culture began to increasingly link Grays to a number of Military-industrial complex/New World Order conspiracy theories. Arguably, the most well known of these was The X-Files, which first screened in 1993. It combined the quest to find proof of the existence of Grey-like extraterrestrials with a number of UFO conspiracy theory subplots, in order to form its primary story arc. Other notable examples include Dark Skies; first broadcast in 1996, which expanded upon the MJ-12 conspiracy, and Stargate SG-1 which in the 1998 episode "Thor's Chariot" introduced the Asgard, a race of beneficent Grays who visited ancient Earth masquerading as characters from Norse Mythology. In 1995 film maker Ray Santilli claimed to have obtained 22 reels of 16mm film that depicted the autopsy of a real life Grey that was said to have been recovered from the site of the 1947 incident in Roswell, New Mexico. However, in 2006 Santilli announced that the film was not original, but was instead a reconstruction created after the original film was found to have degraded. He maintained that a real Grey had been found and autopsied on camera in 1947, and that the footage released to the public contained a percentage of that original footage, but he was not able to say what that percentage was. In recent years, public opinion polls have indicated wide public belief that aliens have visited Earth. Grey aliens are the most commonly cited. According to Dr. Steven Greer, head of CSETI, over 400 "government, military, and intelligence community witnesses" have offered testimony to the existence of aliens and UFO and/or efforts to cover up their existence.
Another subject thats close to me is Pleiadians (also spelled Pleiadian or Plejaran) is the name given to what are said to be a group of Nordic alien extraterrestrials and "multidimensional spirit beings" from the Pleiades star cluster in the constellation of Taurus), approximately 400 light years from planet Earth. Their home planet is said to be called Erra, and various descriptions of their appearance have been given by those whom claim have been in contact with them.
The Pleiadean first appeared in accounts given by self-styled contactee Billy Meier, a Swiss national who claimed they visited him several times, starting in the 1940s. According to Meier's accounts the Pleiadeans (which he spelled Plejaran) originate from the planet Erra - which is supposed to be located in an alternate dimension that is a fraction of a second ahead of ours - and are outwardly similar to humans. Meier said that they contacted him in person or via telepathy. During the 1970s, Meier produced a number of photographs which he said were of Pleiadean ships, as well as sketches that he said were of Pleiadeans themselves. They have since been the subject of intense criticism from skeptics. Meier's Pleiadeans were said to be spiritual and in touch with nature, and they became a component of the New Age movement during the 1970s, where they were depicted as being a peace loving race of Space Brothers which was said to be warning contactees that humanity was heading towards self destruction, and offering them alternative philosophies to avert such an eventuality. During the 1980s and early 1990s, accounts of Pleiadean given by people other than Meiers began to diverge from earlier New Age concepts. People such as Barbara Marciniak were bringing the message of the pleiadians to seekers of light. Light is said to be truth. Her extensive worldwide travels, astrological studies, and a lifetime of alternative free thinking augment her personal understanding of the material she channels." M78 WIDE FIELD Interstellar dust clouds and glowing nebulae abound in the fertile constellation of Orion. One of the brightest, M78, is centered in this colorful, wide field view, covering an area north of Orion's belt. At a distance of about 1,500 light-years, the bluish reflection nebula is around 5 light-years across. Its tint is due to dust preferentially reflecting the blue light of hot, young stars. Reflection nebula NGC 2071 is just to the left of M78. To the right of M78 and much more compact in appearance, the intriguing McNeil's Nebula is a recently recognized variable nebula associated with the formation of a sun-like star. The remarkably deep exposure also brings out the region's faint but pervasive reddish glow of atomic hydrogen gas.

NGC 253: DUSTY ISLAND UNIVERSE Shiny NGC 253 Galaxy, is one of the brightest spiral galaxies visible, and also one of the dustiest. Some call it the Silver Dollar Galaxy for its appearance in small telescopes, or just the Sculptor Galaxy for its location within the boundaries of the southern constellation Sculptor. First swept up in 1783 by mathematician and astronomer Caroline Herschel, the dusty island universe lies a mere 10 million light-years away. About 70 thousand light-years across, NGC 253 is the largest member of the Sculptor Group of Galaxies, the nearest to our own Local Group of Galaxies. In addition to its spiral dust lanes, striking tendrils of dust seem to be rising from a galactic disk laced with young star clusters and star forming regions in this processed color image. The high dust content accompanies frantic star formation, giving NGC 253 the designation of a starburst galaxy.

DAWN BEFORE NOVA Will this dawn bring another nova? Such dilemmas might be pondered one day by future humans living on a planet orbiting a cataclysmic variable binary star system. Cataclysmic variables involve gas falling from a large star onto an accretion disk surrounding a massive but compact white dwarf star. Explosive cataclysmic events such as a dwarf nova can occur when a clump of gas in the interior of the accretion disk heats up past a certain temperature. At that point, the clump will fall more quickly onto the white dwarf and land with a bright flash. Such dwarf novas will not destroy either star, and may occur irregularly on time scales from a few days to tens of years. Although a nova is much less energetic than a supernova, if recurrent novas are not violent enough to expel more gas than is falling in, mass will accumulate onto the white dwarf star until it passes its Chandrasekhar limit. At that point, a foreground cave may provide little protection, as the entire white dwarf star will explode in a tremendous supernova.
